
SALINA, Kan. — Top-seeded Little River girls are headed to the Class 1A Division I state semifinals.
The Redskins improved to 25-2 on Wednesday with a 57-27 win over No. 8 seed Central Plains in the Class 1A Division I state quarterfinals at Tony's Pizza Events Center.
Little River will face No. 4 seed Centralia (23-3) in Friday’s state semifinal at 5:30 p.m. at United Wireless Arena. Centralia advanced with a 53-39 win over Quinter in Wednesday’s quarterfinals in Salina.
Little River took control after a tight start. The game was tied 6-6 early before the Redskins used an 11-0 run to build a 17-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Redskins continued to control the game in the second quarter, taking a 27-13 lead into halftime behind a strong defensive effort and dominant play inside. Little River then pulled away for good in the third quarter, outscoring Central Plains 16-7 to stretch the lead to 44-20 entering the fourth.
Havana Olander led Little River with 17 points, while Arika Feldman added 13 points and seven rebounds. Avery Lafferty also scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Redskins, who continued their push for a state title berth.
Central Plains finished its season 18-9.
