MAIZE, Kan. — Hutchinson High School split a Tuesday night doubleheader with Maize, as the Salthawk girls rolled to a 47–28 victory before the Eagle boys controlled the nightcap 63–37.

Girls Recap:

Hutchinson set the tone early, holding Maize to just three first-quarter points and building a 12-point halftime lead on the way to its first win of the season.

Senior Ava Krone led the Salthawks with 14 points and a strong rebounding performance. Kolbie Craft and Tenley Keaton added nine points each, while Danai Morgan scored eight and managed the tempo effectively in her point-guard role.

Maize was paced by Malasia Ingram’s 14 points, most of which came in the fourth quarter with the outcome already decided. Kate Harris finished with seven for the Eagles.

Boys Recap:

Relentless Maize defense dictated the boys matchup, as the Eagles capitalized on Hutchinson turnovers to create 43 extra possessions and pull away for a 63–37 win. Maize improved to 2–1, while the Salthawks slipped to 0–3.

The Eagles featured balanced scoring with eight players finding the book. Senior guard Brayden Myovela led the way with 14 points, and Carson Miles dominated the boards and added 10.

Hutchinson’s Lamar Govain turned in a strong effort with 21 points, while Larry Jeremiah Jr. scored 11. Jalen Gable finished with three and Draydon Hippen added two for the Salthawks.

Hutchinson returns home Friday to host cross-county rival Buhler at the Salthawk Activity Center. The girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30.
