Joyce Jean Bruse  |1929-2022| 

Joyce Jean Bruse, 93, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Pratt Health and Rehab. She was born on February 16, 1929 in Pratt to Bryan Jennings and Nellie Irene (Haworth) Scarbrough. Joyce married Henry Edward Bruse on April 21, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Pratt. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1993.

Joyce graduated from Pratt High School in 1947. She worked as the District Manager for Pratt County Conservation District. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church until it closed and then transferred her membership to Pratt Free Methodist Church. She was a former member of American Baptist Women. She enjoyed reading, movies, gardening, cooking, baking, studying God's word and kept a thank you journal for many years.

She is survived by her children, Belinda Jean (Duane) Fischer of Pratt; Roger Lee (Janet) Crabill of Hutchinson; and Penny Sue (Mal) McCawley of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Darin Lee (Dorothy) Fischer of Lawrence; Kimberly Ann (Stephan) Phoenix of Grapevine, Texas; Jacob Elvis (Amber) Elder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Katherine Irene (Mitch) Janik of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Amy Jean (Jamie) Ward of Fayetteville, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Haley Dawn (Danny) Dufford, Gavin Fischer, Allie Fischer, Aubrey Fischer, Amelia Phoenix, Emily Elder, Audree Elder, Carson Janik; great great-grandchildren, William Todd-Fischer, Kanoa Todd-Fischer and another on the way; and nephew, Nick (Keven) Horner of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edward Bruse; parents; and sister, Helen Maxine (Jack) Horner.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022 beginning at 1:00 p.m., and funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, with Pastor Terry Stafford presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
