HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Commissioners held a public hearing, but in the end, tabled any action on vacating a portion of Mohawk Road during Tuesday’s meeting.
The road along the east side of the landfill is being closed so the landfill can move its entryway and scale house east to the road's present location. It's part of an overall plan to give a facelift to the landfill facilities. The closing also allows the landfill to use land east of the road.
Area landowners and others expressed concern over the size of a cul-de-sac that is proposed to turn traffic around. The county will redesign that portion of the road and then come back to the commission for action during next week's meeting.
