Harold D.“Zerg” Zerger, 81, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born September 17, 1940, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Daniel and Mary (Wedel) Zerger.
Zerg was a graduate of Moundridge High School with the class of 1958.
He was a near life-long automotive mechanic working in various shops, including owning and operating Zerg’s Auto Service in Moundridge. In 1975 he made a career change and began farming.
Zerg was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church. He served 25+ years as chairman of the Fire board McPherson county RFD No.7.
Zerg was united in marriage to Pearl L. Maas on June 10, 1966 in Moundridge. She survives of the home.
Also surviving is his son, Andrew J. “Andy” Zerger of Wichita, KS; grandson, Boston Knowles of Wichita, KS; sister, Helen Krehbiel-Reed, Hood River, OR; and sister-in-law, Tillie Zerger, Moundridge.
Zerg was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin Zerger and Eldon Zerger; and two sisters, Evelyn Miller and Arlene Thiesen.
A Celebration of Life will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Moundridge United Methodist Church. Following the service, the family will meet with friends until 8:00 p.m. Cremation will take place later with a private family inurnment at Mound Township Cemetery.
