🥎 Sterling College to host NCCAA Central Region Championship Monday and Tuesday

STERLING, Kan. — Sterling College will host the NCCAA Central Region Softball Championship on Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13, at Sterling High School.

Four teams will compete in the double-elimination tournament, with Sterling College entering as the No. 1 seed. The Warriors finished the regular season 31-15 overall and 19-8 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Sterling will open the tournament against No. 4 seed Mission University of Springfield, Mo., at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Mission finished 15-35 overall and 4-16 in the American Midwest Conference.

The first game of the tournament will feature No. 2 seed Mid-America Christian University of Oklahoma City against No. 3 seed Southwestern Christian University of Bethany, Okla. First pitch is scheduled for noon Monday. Mid-America Christian went 27-18 overall and 22-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Southwestern Christian finished 28-24 and 17-19 in conference play.

The tournament champion will advance to the NCCAA Softball World Series, scheduled for May 19-21 at Oak Grove Softball Complex in Grapevine, Texas. The national event will feature an eight-team double-elimination format.

Admission is free, and concessions will be available on site.

Sterling has two Kansans on its roster, including Lyons' Mallory Seidel. MACU's lone Kansan is Chana Wolfe, from Salina. Neither Mission University or Southwestern Christian have anyone on their roster from Kansas.
