
PRATT, Kan. — The Dragons (11-5, 7-3) were without leading scorer Quez Thornton (16.5 ppg) Saturday at the Beaver Dome and found themselves down 15 points early.
Hunter Vaughn hit three triples in the first half as Pratt (8-7, 4-5) took a 30-15 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the first stanza.
Hutchinson put on a 24-5 run of its own to cut the lead to 39-35 with a little more than a minute to play in the opening frame.
Mikhail Abdul-Hamid hit four triples in the first half and scored 12 of his total 15 in the first 20 minutes.
Hutchinson went into the locker room down five.
The Dragons snagged their first lead of the game on Abdul-Hamid's fifth triple with 15:16 to go.
D.J. Dudley scored 12 of his 13 in the second half as the Dragons outscored the Beavers 49-34 in the game's final 20 minutes.
Khalil Arnold posted 22 points off the bench. Bobby Cannon added 14 in reserve play.
