HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Tbe first big upset came at the hands of the 14-seed Gulf Coast Commodores edged 3-seed Indian Hills 72-70 in the nightcap of day three of the NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament.
In a back-and-forth game that saw eight ties and five lead changes. The Commodores had a six-point lead at the half 41-35.
The Commodores, the 14-seed used had four players in double digits with Devontes Cobbs leading the way with 17. Trent Lincoln had 16, and jabari Quarterman with 11 followed by Traevon Koch added 10 off the bench.
The Commodores shot 35.9% from the field on 22 of 64 shooting with 9 three pointers. They added 17 of 19 from the free throw line.
Indian Hills was led in scoring by Chaz Watson with 20. Also in double figures for the Warriors, Taj Au-Duke had 17, KJ LaMonte with 13 and Chian Ring added 12.
Indian Hills ends their season at 24-3. Gulf Coast State will play the winner of Vincennes vs Northwest Florida State on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
