KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Royals and reliever Carlos Estévez have agreed to a two-year, $22 million contract, giving Kansas City another potential closer alongside Lucas Erceg, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

The deal includes a $13 million option with a $2 million buyout, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal is pending a physical. Kansas City will have to clear a spot for Estévez on the 40-man roster when that happens.

The 32-year-old Estévez appeared in 54 games for the Angels and Phillies last season, compiling a 2.45 ERA over 54 appearances for the two clubs. He had 20 saves with the Angels and six for Philadelphia as the won the NL East.

He ultimately allow the decisive homer against the Mets in Game 4 of the National League Division Series.

Estévez was an All-Star with the Angels two years ago, going 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA in 63 appearances that season.

The Royals acquired Erceg from the Athletics last year as they were making a run for a wild-card spot, and he pitched well down the stretch and into the postseason, solidifying what had been a shaky back of the bullpen. Now, the hard-throwing Erceg will be able to team with Estévez in forming a potent one-two punch in the later innings of games.

Caitlin Clark declines invite to a 3-point shootout at NBA All-Star weekend

Caitlin Clark is going to wait until Indianapolis hosts the WNBA All-Star weekend to enter her first 3-point contest. Clark's representatives said Wednesday that the Fever star declined an invitation to participate in a special challenge during NBA All-Star weekend next month. There had been discussions for Clark to participate in a contest similar to the one that pitted Stephen Curry against Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-point shootout during last season's NBA All-Star festivities. PGA Tour contemplates announcing fines as part of study into slow play

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — More changes could be on the way for the PGA Tour. That might include the use of rangefinders to speed play and even disclosing violations and fines related to pace of play. It's all part of the "Fan Forward" program announced last year. That included a survey of some 50,000 fans to see what they like and what they want to see. Among the key topics are improving the broadcast and speeding play. Also being studied is change to the Tour Championship format. Commissioner Jay Monahan is expected to go into more detail at The Players Championship in March.

Objections flow in on NCAA settlement over 'unnecessarily harsh' impact of roster limits

Most of the objections posted so far to the lawsuit settlement set to alter the college-sports model concerned the impact roster limits will have on players in so-called "Olympic sports," some of whom have already been cut from their teams. As part of the settlement, the NCAA proposed limits on rosters that would be imposed for schools that choose to adhere to the terms of the deal. While the new roster limits expand the number of scholarships schools can provide, estimates are they could lead to the loss of 10,000 or more spots in "non-revenue," or Olympic sports, across the NCAA.

Utah Hockey Club narrows the choice of a permanent name to three finalists. It won't be the Yeti

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Hockey Club has chosen three finalists for the permanent team name it will adopt beginning with the 2025-26 NHL season. Yeti isn't one of them. The franchise will use a final round of fan voting to decide among the Utah Mammoth, Utah Hockey Club and Utah Wasatch. Fans in attendance the next four home games beginning Wednesday night against Pittsburgh will vote at designated iPad stations at the Delta Center to help decide the name and logo. Ravens fans urged to donate for Kincaid after Bills fan organized effort for Andrews

Baltimore Ravens fans are being urged to donate to a group supported by Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid. He had a pass go through his arms late in last weekend's playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. This effort comes after a Bills fan started a fundraiser for a charitable cause supported by Ravens tight end Mark Andrews. His dropped 2-point conversion helped seal Buffalo's win over Baltimore in the divisional round. According to a GoFundMe page Wednesday night, over $20,000 had been raised for Summit Educational Resources. The Summit Center provides programs to children and adults with developmental, social and behavioral challenges. Last April, Kincaid visited with students and staff at Summit Academy.

Ohio State quality control coach placed on leave amid university investigation

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State defensive quality control coach Joe Lyberger has been on paid administrative leave for the last month while the university investigates him. Ohio State's human resources department sent Lyberger a letter on Dec. 27 that noted he would be placed on leave immediately. The investigation is being conducted by the university's Office of Institutional Equity. The letter was obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press through a public records request. The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch first reported Lyberger's situation and noted that the Office of Institutional Equity deals with complaints of harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct among other things. The letter didn't specify the nature of the investigation.

The Blue Dragons are now 14-7 overall, 10-5 in the Jayhawk Conference. Hutchinson also completes the regular season sweep of Colby.&nbsp;

The game saw several ties and lead changes, with neither team able to have larger than a five-point lead throughout the night.&nbsp;

D.J. Dudley hit the go-ahead 3-pointer to put the Blue Dragons in front 65-63 with 33 seconds to play. He finished with 13 points. Dudley knocked down the game winning three-point play in the Sports Arena to down Colby back in November.&nbsp;

After the shot by Dudley, the Blue Dragon defense forced a shot clock violation with just over three seconds to play. Colby had only committed four team fouls, which came back to hurt them in the final seconds.&nbsp;

Mikhail Abdul-Hamid finished with 20 points to lead the Blue Dragons, knocking down five 3-pointers. Isaiah Jackson was the only other Blue Dragons in double figures with 10.&nbsp;

Colby was led by Eternity Eguagie with 13 points and 11 rebounds.&nbsp;

COLBY, Kan. — The No. 6 Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team cruised to an 84-47 win over the Colby Trojans on Wednesday at the Colby Event Center.&nbsp;

The Blue Dragons are now 20-0, 14-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.&nbsp;

The win came in John Ontjes’ 600th career game as the head coach of the Blue Dragons. He is now 503-97.&nbsp;

The Blue Dragons set the tone early, building a 22-9 lead after the opening quarter, and a 43-27 halftime lead.&nbsp;

The Hutchinson offense hit 10 3-pointers in the win, the third straight game the Blue Dragons have knocked down 10 or more.&nbsp;

Jada Pleasant was unconscious from deep, knocking down all five 3-point attempts. She finished with 15 points, a new career-high.&nbsp;

🏀 Pleasant leads Blue Dragons to road win

MANHATTAN, Kansas (AP) — Brendan Hausen scored 18 points on 5-for-6 shooting, Coleman Hawkins scored 15 points and Kansas State routed Oklahoma State 85-57 on Wednesday night.

Max Jones scored 14 points, Dug McDaniel scored 10 and the Wildcats (9-11, 3-6 Big 12) had 10 players enter the scoring column. Kansas State shot 52.6% (30 for 57).

Reserve Marchelus Avery scored 22 points, shooting 7 for 8, and Bryce Thompson was the lone starter in double-digit scoring for Oklahoma State with 11 points. The Cowboys' bench outscored the starters 39-18 and made 14 of their 21 made field goals.

The Wildcats began by establishing a 10-0 lead and were up 15-4 with 15 minutes before halftime. Avery threw down a dunk and Thompson made a layup to get Oklahoma State within 25-18 with 9:39 before the break, but McDaniel countered with a 3-pointer and layup for a 12-point lead. The Wildcats stayed ahead by double figures the rest of the way. Kansas State led 45-23 at halftime.

It was Kansas State's second largest margin of victory this season. On Dec. 1, the Wildcats beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 120-73 at home.

Forbes had her best week as a Blue Dragon in leading No. 5 Hutchinson to a pair of wins last week.

For the week, Forbes averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 assists per game in wins over Barton and Fort Hays Tech Northwest. She sizzled from 3-point range hitting 12 of 19 shots from distance.

Against Barton, Forbes scored a career-high 21 points, hitting seven 3-pointers. That was only the 14th time in Blue Dragon history a player had at least seven 3-pointers in a game.

Against, Tech, Forbes had 15 points on 5 of 6 3-point shooting.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Anthony Davis left the Lakers' game against Philadelphia in the first half with an abdominal muscle strain. Davis walked to the locker room with his right hand over his stomach when he left with 2:10 to go in the first quarter Tuesday. Davis had four points in 10 minutes before he was hurt. Davis averaged 26.3 points and 12.1 rebounds in 41 games this season for the Lakers. He had 42 points and 23 points on Monday in a victory at Charlotte.

The Phoenix Mercury are finalizing a deal to acquire Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun. HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Derby Panthers knocked down 11 three point baskets in route to a 69-54 win over the Hutchinson Salthawk Boys at the Salthawk Activity Center Tuesday night.

Hutch hung with the talented Panthers early being tied 11-11 at the end of the first quarter, but gave up 20 points in the second quarter to trail by 10 at the half 31-21.

Derby pushed it to a 17 point lead at 50-33 and the end of the third quarter and extended the lead to 27 in the fourth thanks to the hot hand of Panther sharp shooter Cale Clingan's three trey's in the quarter.

The Salthawks battled back in the final quarter, but the lead was too much to overcome.

Clinton ended with 13 points and senior guard Jack Upwelling led Derby in scoring with 14.

Hutchinson was led in scoring by senior Terrell King with 16 points. Lamar Govain followed up with 14 after a 10 point third.

Govain and King were the only Salthawks who scored in the third quarter. Foul trouble was an issue for Govain who sat most of the first half on the bench due to fouls.

Hutchinson now finds itself in a five game losing streak after starting the season 4-1,

Head coach Bryan Miller commented on his post-game radio show "this is unacceptable! We've got to sit down and figure this out, and we will."

Hutch dropped two winnable games in the MIT tournament last week in McPherson losing 61-58 to Wichita East and 63-61 to Manhattan. &nbsp;The Salthawks dropped their first round game to Blue Valley West 53-42.&nbsp;

Hutchinson will travel to Maize South on Friday night to make up a game postponed by weather from January 7th. They then will face the Mavericks again at home next Tuesday as well as hosting Salina South on Friday, January 7th.

Derby travels to Junction City on Monday before hosting Valley Center on Tuesday, wrapping up the week traveling to Goddard Eisenhower on Friday, January 7th.

Ontjes has won 502 games in his first 599 with the Dragons, which is second all-time in the KJCCC. Colby coach Darin Spence has 359 KJCCC wins, which is eighth most.
Since a 26-point loss to Dodge City on January 18, the Blue Dragons have regained their offensive stride after scoring only 41 points to the Conquistadors. In victories over Barton and Fort Hays Tech Northwest, the Blue Dragons are averaging 88.5 points per game, while shooting 45.8 percent overall and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. The Blue Dragons have hit 21 of their last 56 3-point attempts in the last two games.
Against Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday at the Sports Arena, the Dragons posted the fourth-highest point total team history with the sixth-largest margin of victory in a 114-39 victory. All 11 Hutchinson players to suit up scored and six reached double figures as the Dragons shot 53.8 percent with 11 3-pointers and a season-low-tying six turnovers.
Under second-year head coach Darin Spence, Colby has already made a four-win improvement from last season. The Trojans are tied for seventh place in the KJCCC with Cloud County at 7-7. After two tough home losses last week, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team is on the road Wednesday in order to regain some much-needed momentum as it heads into the final third of the 2024-25 season.
The Blue Dragons (13-7, 9-5 KJCCC) travel to Northwest Kansas to meet the Colby Trojans (11-9, 6-8 KJCCC) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Colby Events Center.

Facing a two-game skid after home losses to Barton and Fort Hays Tech Northwest, the Blue Dragons are currently in fifth place in the 13-team Jayhawk Conference with a 9-5 record. The Dragons trail fourth-place Barton by one game and third-place Butler by 1.5 games.
The Blue Dragons play the two teams immediately behind them in the KJCCC standings this week. Colby is in seventh place three games behind the Blue Dragons. Independence, Saturday's Hutchinson opponent at the Sports Arena, is in sixth place 2.5 games behind the Dragons.
Both Hutchinson and Colby enter play on Wednesday on two-game losing streaks.
The Blue Dragons fell 91-86 to Barton last Wednesday before Fort Hays Tech Northwest dominated the final six minutes on Saturday in a 75-61 Blue Dragon loss, the first loss by Hutchinson of 10 or more points this season. Colby lost to Independence 104-86 and Coffeyville 83-65. The Trojans have dropped 3 of their last 4 games.
Hutchinson won a tight first meeting with Colby on November 26 at the Sports Arena.
D.J. Dudley topped off a career night with a game-winning three-point play with 2.3 seconds to play in regulation to complete a wild late-game comeback for an 81-80 win. Trailing by seven points with 2:36 remaining in the second half.
Trailing 77-72 with 23 seconds left,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mbkb/2024-25/bios/thornton_jaquez_fh4s">Jaquez Thornton</a>&nbsp;hit a long 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to pull the Dragons within 77-75. Khadir Muhammad hit two free throws for Colby with 14 seconds left for a four-point lead, but Thornton bombed away from deep again, hitting a 3-pointer with 8.5 seconds left to draw the Dragons within 79-78. The Dragons fouled Muhammad immediately and he hit 1 of 2 free throws with 7.4 seconds remaining. That set up Dudley's game-winning heroics.</div>

Hunter Dickinson added 24 points and Flory Bidunga had 10 points and 11 boards for the Jayhawks (15-5, 6-3 Big 12), who were coming off a double-overtime loss to sixth-ranked Houston.

The Knights (13-7, 4-5), who got 34 points from Keyshawn Hall and 19 from Darius Johnson, led by nine early in the second half before the Jayhawks used a 12-2 run to take their first lead since midway through the first half.

The Jayhawks were clinging to an 87-86 lead when KJ Adams, back after missing three games to a shoulder injury, made a pair of free throws with 4.6 seconds left. Kansas fouled Johnson at the other end and he made one of two foul shots, and Mayo then went to the line for the clinching free throws.

Kansas has not lost consecutive games at the Phog since dropping four straight under Roy Williams in 1989.

UCF lost to the Jayhawks by 51 points at home a couple of weeks ago. So the fact that the Knights were able to take Kansas to the wire in Allen Fieldhouse speaks volumes about their resiliency.

🏀 Zeke Mayo scores 24 as No. 11 Jayhawks rally past UCF

Patrick Mahomes and the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/buffalo-bills-kansas-city-chiefs-afc-championship-score-c9187ccf15160bd5eabba73086ee9a42">Kansas City Chiefs</a>&nbsp;accomplished a feat that had never been done before: Getting back to the NFL's championship game following back-to-back Super Bowl wins.

Next up is the rare championship three-peat that hasn't been accomplished in the NFL, NBA, NHL or Major League Baseball in more than 20 years.

The most recent team in those four leagues to win three straight championships was the Los Angeles Lakers with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in the 2000-02 NBA Finals.

Only two NFL teams have ever won three straight championships with Green Bay doing it from 1929-31 when the champion was determined by regular-season record and then again in the 1965-67 seasons. Vince Lombardi's Packers won the final NFL championship before the start of the Super Bowl era in 1966 and then won the first two games between the AFL and NFL champions that determined the true kings of pro football.

Since the end of that Green Bay run, there have been seven three-peats in the four biggest North American pro sports leagues. Here's a look at those dynastic teams:

Charlie Finley's Swingin' A's dominated baseball in the early 1970s with a roster filled with big characters. Led by slugger Reggie Jackson, dominant starters Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue, the A's knocked off the Reds, Mets and Dodgers in successive seasons to join the Yankees as the only baseball franchises to win three straight titles.

Montreal dominated the NHL for decades with 23 Stanley Cups. The majority of those came in the pre-expansion Original Six era, but the Canadiens put together an impressive run in the late 1970s under coach Scotty Bowman. Led by dynamic scorer Guy LaFleur, two Cup-clinching goals by Jacque Lemaire, Hall of Fame defenseman Larry Robinson and goalie Ken Dryden, Montreal raced to four straight titles with a 48-10 record in the four postseason runs.

As soon as the Canadiens' dynastic run ended, the Islanders started one of their own as the last hockey team to win at least three straight titles. Al Arbour's squad was led by high-scoring wing Mike Bossy, defenseman Denis Potvin and goalie Billy Smith. The run started with an overtime clincher by Bobby Nystrom against Philadelphia in the 1980 Stanley Cup Final and then they lost only once in three other trips to the Final.

After coming up short in back-to-back seasons against the Detroit Pistons, Michael Jordan and the Bulls broke through in the 1991 NBA Finals by beating Magic Johnson and the Lakers in five games. Chicago then dominated for most of the decade, repeating as champs in 1992 and 1993 for the NBA's first three-peat since Boston won eight straight titles from 1959-66.

After a brief step back in the 1994-95 seasons after Jordan stepped away to play baseball, the Bulls were even more dominant in their second run. Chicago won a then-record 72 regular-season games on the way to the title in 1996 and then won again the next two years before Jordan temporarily retired and the team broke up.

The Yankees had several dynastic runs in their history, winning four straight World Series from 1936-39 and then five in a row from 1949-53. But they are the only team to win three straight World Series in the free agency era. Led by homegrown stars Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte and Bernie Williams, Joe Torre's squad won the franchise's first title in 18 years in 1996.

Vince Lombardi's Packers won the final NFL championship before the start of the Super Bowl era in 1966 and then won the first two games between the AFL and NFL champions that determined the true kings of pro football.Since the end of that Green Bay run, there have been seven three-peats in the four biggest North American pro sports leagues. Here's a look at those dynastic teams:<h2>Oakland Athletics, 1972-74</h2>Charlie Finley's Swingin' A's dominated baseball in the early 1970s with a roster filled with big characters. Led by slugger Reggie Jackson, dominant starters Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue, the A's knocked off the Reds, Mets and Dodgers in successive seasons to join the Yankees as the only baseball franchises to win three straight titles.<h2>Montreal Canadiens, 1976-79</h2>Montreal dominated the NHL for decades with 23 Stanley Cups. The majority of those came in the pre-expansion Original Six era, but the Canadiens put together an impressive run in the late 1970s under coach Scotty Bowman. Led by dynamic scorer Guy LaFleur, two Cup-clinching goals by Jacque Lemaire, Hall of Fame defenseman Larry Robinson and goalie Ken Dryden, Montreal raced to four straight titles with a 48-10 record in the four postseason runs.<h2>New York Islanders, 1980-83</h2>As soon as the Canadiens' dynastic run ended, the Islanders started one of their own as the last hockey team to win at least three straight titles. Al Arbour's squad was led by high-scoring wing Mike Bossy, defenseman Denis Potvin and goalie Billy Smith. The run started with an overtime clincher by Bobby Nystrom against Philadelphia in the 1980 Stanley Cup Final and then they lost only once in three other trips to the Final.<h2>Chicago Bulls, 1991-93 and 1996-98</h2>After coming up short in back-to-back seasons against the Detroit Pistons, Michael Jordan and the Bulls broke through in the 1991 NBA Finals by beating Magic Johnson and the Lakers in five games. Chicago then dominated for most of the decade, repeating as champs in 1992 and 1993 for the NBA's first three-peat since Boston won eight straight titles from 1959-66.After a brief step back in the 1994-95 seasons after Jordan stepped away to play baseball, the Bulls were even more dominant in their second run. Chicago won a then-record 72 regular-season games on the way to the title in 1996 and then won again the next two years before Jordan temporarily retired and the team broke up.<h2>New York Yankees, 1998-2000</h2>The Yankees had several dynastic runs in their history, winning four straight World Series from 1936-39 and then five in a row from 1949-53. But they are the only team to win three straight World Series in the free agency era. The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team is ranked No. 6 in the latest rankings released by the NJCAA on Monday afternoon.

Although the Blue Dragons went 2-0 last week, they moved down a spot in the poll.

Three KJCCC teams are in the Top 25, led by Dodge City at No. 4, Hutchinson at No. 5 and Coffeyville at No. 22. Butler is receiving votes.

HutchCC is 19-1 overall, 13-1 in the Jayhawk Conference and will travel to Colby on Wednesday to face the Trojans at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcasted on flagship station Country 102.9 (KHUT-FM) and sister stations KWBW (1450-AM/98.5-FM).

LAWRENCE, Kan. &ndash;&nbsp;Kansas women's basketball signee Jaliya Davis has been named a 2025 McDonald's All-American, and will participate in the McDonald's All-America game on April 1, 2025, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. &nbsp; Davis becomes the third McDonald's All-American in Kansas women's basketball history and the second to sign with the Jayhawks out of high school. KU's previous signee was Lauren Ervin, who played in the 2003 event, while Jessica Washington was selected to play in the game in 2013. Washington played two seasons at North Carolina before transferring to Kansas for the 2016-17 season. &nbsp; A 6-foot-2 forward from Leawood, Kansas, Davis is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Kansas and recently became the all-time leading scorer in the history of Blue Valley North High School. She is rated a five-star prospect and the No. 17 recruit in the country by ESPNW, becoming the highest-ranked player to sign at Kansas during Schneider's tenure. Jimmy Butler suspended for the 3rd time this month by the Miami Heat as trade deadline looms

MIAMI (AP) — Jimmy Butler was suspended by the Miami Heat. Again. Butler had been expected to play for the Heat against the Orlando Magic on Monday night, after completing his second suspension of the month. But he was suspended for a third time basically just as the second one was ending. He was previously suspended from Miami's most recent two games after missing a team flight to Milwaukee last week. Butler has missed 15 of Miami's last 20 games, including 10 of the last 13 because of the suspensions. He is expected to miss at least five more games.

Brian Schottenheimer says he's 'ready' to coach Cowboys after long career as NFL assistant

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Brian Schottenheimer says he's "ready" to be coach of the Dallas Cowboys after a long career as an NFL assistant. The son of late NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer says he has had previous opportunities to pursue head coaching jobs but didn't think he was ready. The younger Schottenheimer's chance with the Cowboys comes after 25 years in the league with a handful of college seasons as well. The 51-year-old is the 10th coach in the history of the storied franchise. He's the seventh hired by owner Jerry Jones since the last time the Cowboys reached an NFC championship game 29 years ago.

Aaron Glenn had no doubts about where he wanted to go once the New York Jets' head-coaching job became available. Home sweet NFL home. Once a key player as a first-round draft pick for the franchise, Glenn will lead the Jets from the sideline after interviewing with three other teams in recent weeks. With the recent hirings of Glenn and Mike Vrabel by the New England Patriots, the NFL has five coaches who once played for the teams they're now leading. Saudi Arabia club Al-Hilal says contract with Neymar has been terminated by mutual consent

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Saudi Arabia club Al-Hilal says it has reached an agreement with Brazilian striker Neymar to terminate his contract by mutual consent. The deal was due to expire in the middle of the year. The club said in a statement published on X that it "expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career with Al-Hilal." The 32-year-old barely played for the Saudi club after he joined from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023 for 90 million euros ($94 million). Neymar was sidelined for more than a year due to an ACL injury he picked playing for Brazil only months after he joined Al-Hilal.

Florida coach Todd Golden cleared in Title IX investigation regarding sexual harassment allegations

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The University of Florida has cleared men's basketball coach Todd Golden following a four-month Title IX investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking. The school released a statement Monday saying no evidence was found and it ended its investigation. It comes amid No. 5 Florida's best season in a decade, with the Gators winning 18 of their first 20 games. The complaint against Golden accused him of sending photos and videos of his genitalia, making unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and requesting sexual favors. The Independent Florida Alligator first reported the allegations in early November.

Surging Rockets beat the Celtics after knocking off the Cavaliers twice

BOSTON (AP) — The Houston Rockets have been one of the NBA's more surprising teams this season. After their past three games, they shouldn't shock anyone. The Rockets beat the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers twice last week before traveling to Boston and pulling out a 114-112 victory over the defending champion Celtics on Monday night. Houston is 31-14 and coach Ime Udoka says that record is "not just a fluke" more than halfway through the season.

Scheyer: Duke's Maluach OK after vomiting on court during 2nd half of win over NC State

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke coach Jon Scheyer said freshman big man Khaman Maluach was OK after vomiting on the court during the second half of Monday night's win against North Carolina State. The 7-foot-2 Maluach was standing just outside the lane near the baseline behind N.C. State's Brandon Huntley-Hatfield when he turned and was sick with 4:21 left. Maluach sat briefly on the court before laying on his back while team medical staff tended to him. Maluach was alert the entire time and eventually was helped up to walk slowly off the court before leaving the bench for the rest of the game.

Auburn, Duke top men's AP Top 25, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt make poll debuts; UConn tumbles to No. 25

Auburn is the unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll for the second consecutive week. The top five was unchanged with Duke at No. 2, followed by Iowa State, Alabama and Florida. Texas Tech and Vanderbilt are in the Top 25 for the first time this season at the expense of Michigan and West Virginia. UConn fell to No. 25 but managed to extend its poll streak to 52 consecutive weeks.
