The college has said its recruiting is not determined by students’ race or ethnicity and denied it ever instructed coaches to exclude out-of-state athletes from recruitment.

It contends the college’s strategy included expelling black students for minor or bogus infractions and singling them out for dorm room and vehicle searches, discriminatory surveillance and harassment.

Filed on behalf of four former and current students, the lawsuit names Eric Ingmire, vice president for student services, and Bryan Dorrel, the college’s athletic director, as defendants. They did not immediately respond to email messages seeking comment.

Highland Community College has more than 3,200 students, 87% of whom are white. During the 2019 season, 104 of the 111 football players were black. The 2020 football recruiting class includes “a significantly lower number” of black athletes, the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit alleges Dorrel told coaches to recruit “more local kids” and “less Southern kids.”

Kansas college settles lawsuit over recruitment of athletes

INDIANAPOLIS, In.—The NCAA announced Monday it plans to hold the entire 2021 men’s college basketball tournament in one geographic location to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 and is in talks with Indianapolis to be the host city.

The Final Four is already set to be held in Indianapolis next April and the NCAA has its headquarters in the Indiana capital.

Early-round games had been scheduled at 13 predetermined sites across the country, with regionals in Minneapolis, Denver, Memphis, Tennessee, and New York City, with the First Four in Dayton, Ohio.

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee determined moving those to one location would allow a safe and controlled environment with venues, practice facilities, lodging and medical resources all near one another.

“Trying to run an event of 68 teams, 67 games over the course of three weeks in a safe and responsible way really needed to be managed in a much controlled, singular environment,” NCAA senior vice president of basketball Dan Gavitt told NCAA.com.

“The committee has made a really sound decision here, disappointing as it is to go away from our valued hosts for 13 different sites from First Four through the regionals,” he said. “Condensing this to one geographic area that we can do it in a more safe and responsible way is where we need to be.”

The NCAA set a Nov. 25 start date for the season as it tries to bounce back from the two lucrative tournaments being canceled last spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cancellation of the NCAA Tournament led to a $375 million shortfall in revenue distributed to member institutions, putting a huge strain on athletic departments across the country.

Schools have scrambled to fill schedules while&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/college-football-football-coronavirus-pandemic-basketball-texas-aandm-aggies-football-61fca886bb98e59bc6f8b58adce1ae20">the coronavirus has wreaked havoc on college football, causing the cancellation of more than 60 games</a>. Multiple basketball programs are currently on pause due to COVID-19 and the Ivy League announced last week the cancellation of winter sports, including men’s and women’s basketball.

Gavitt said there is no plan to change the Nov. 25 start date and the plan is for the NCAA Tournament to be played in March and April as scheduled. No determination has been made on whether fans will be allowed, a decision that will also face individual conferences as their tournaments approach in March.

NCAA President Mark Emmert earlier floated the idea of playing the NCAA Tournament in a bubble after the NBA and NHL managed to complete their seasons with similar setups.

It might be a while before the women’s basketball committee decides what it wants to do with the tournament. Since 2015, the first two rounds have been played on home campuses of the top 16 seeds. Those aren’t known until Selection Monday, so there are no predetermined sites.

The women’s Final Four next March is set for San Antonio and the regionals are supposed to be played in Albany, New York, Austin, Texas, Cincinnati and Spokane, Washington.

Athletic director Ray Tanner said first-year offensive coordinator and former Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo will take over as interim coach. The 49-year-old Muschamp had four years remaining on his contract. His buyout from the school is $13.2 million.

The first deal known to be tentatively agreed upon would send guard Dennis Schröder (SHROO’-dur) from Oklahoma City to the champion Los Angeles Lakers for Danny Green and the No. 28 pick in Wednesday’s draft. That’s according to a person with knowledge of the agreement.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The Australian Open and all the regular interstate leadup tournaments for the season’s first tennis major will be staged in Melbourne in January. The decision is designed to minimize risks for players traveling and quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tennis Australia will transfer the tournaments from Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart to Melbourne.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Terence Crawford remained unbeaten and kept his place on the mythical pound-for-pound best list with an impressive stoppage of the veteran Brook, who fought well for three rounds before succumbing to Crawford's power. Crawford turned the fight around with a big right hand that sent Brook into the ropes and prompted referee Tony Weeks to give him an 8-count. When the fight resumed, he landed a half dozen punches to the head before Weeks waved the fight to a close at 1:14 of the fourth round

UNDATED (AP) — There's now a three-way tie for the NFC West lead following victories by the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams.

Kyler Murray completed a stunning 43-yard desperation pass to DeAndre Hopkins with two seconds remaining to lift the Cardinals to a 32-30 victory over the Bills. Murray flung the ball toward the end zone, where Hopkins was waiting with three Buffalo defenders draped all over him.

Murray threw for 245 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Hopkins had seven catches for 127 yards for the 6-3 Cardinals.

Josh Allen threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs with 34 seconds left that looked like it would win it for the 7-3 Bills.

Near Los Angeles, Jared Goff passed for 302 yards and Darious Williams picked off two throws as the Rams downed the Seahawks, 23-16.

Malcolm Brown rushed for two touchdowns and Darrell Henderson had another score for Los Angeles, which held Seattle to three points after halftime. 

Russell Wilson passed for 248 yards and rushed for 60 more for the Seahawks, who have lost three of four after a 5-0 start. 

— The Steelers remain the only unbeaten team at 9-0 after Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH'-lihs-bur-gur) threw for a season-high 333 yards and four touchdowns in a 36-10 rout of the Bengals. Roethlisberger was sharp despite being forced to stay away from the team facility all week due to COVID-19 protocols. T.J. Watt collected two of Pittsburgh's four sacks as the Steelers won their 11th straight meeting with their division rival.

— Cam Newton threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the Patriots' 23-17 decision over the Ravens. Damien Harris ran for a career-high 121 yards to help the Patriots win consecutive games for the first time this season. Lamar Jackson was 24 of 34 for 249 yards and two touchdowns for Baltimore, which had won 10 straight road games before falling three games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC North.

— Alvin Kamara (kah-MAH'-rah) scored three times and New Orleans' defense largely stifled San Francisco to help the Saints secure a 27-13 victory over the 49ers. Drew Brees was pulled at halftime with a rib injury after passing for just 76 yards and one touchdown. The Niners had little success against the Saints' second-ranked run defense, gaining just 49 yards on the ground. New Orleans improved to 7-2.

— Tom Brady threw for 341 yards and was involved in four touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 46-23 dismantling of the Panthers. Brady threw touchdown passes to Cameron Brate, Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski, then ran for another score in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Ronald Jones had a franchise-record 98-yard touchdown run to help Tampa Bay bounce back from Monday's 38-3 loss to the Saints. 

— Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third in the Packers' 24-20 victory against the Jaguars. Rodgers put the 7-2 Packers ahead for good by throwing a 6-yard TD pass to Davante Adams with 9:11 left. The Green Bay QB also had a 78-yard scoring strike to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who caught four passes for a career-high 149 yards.

— Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt each went over 100 yards rushing as the Browns knocked off the Texans, 10-7. Chubb finished with 126 yards and a TD on 19 carries in his return from the injured, while Hunt added 104 yards on the ground for the 6-3 Browns. The game's start was delayed 36 minutes after a severe thunderstorm before swirling winds hampered the passing game.

— Jeff Heath had two of the Raiders' five takeaways in their third straight win, 37-12 over the Broncos. Heath intercepted Drew Lock twice in the first half, Carl Nassib and Nick Kwiatkoski got picks in the fourth quarter and Nevin Lawson forced and recovered a fumble by DaeSean Hamilton. — The Giants beat the Eagles, 27-17 as Daniel Jones threw for 244 yards and ran for a touchdown. Wayne Gallman Jr. had two TD runs after Jones scored on a 34-yard burst to put the Giants ahead to stay. The Giants improved to 3-7 under first-year coach Joe Judge with their second straight win, snapping an eight-game losing streak against Philly. 

— The Lions blew a 24-3 lead before beating Washington, 30-27 on Matt Prater's 59-yard field goal as time expired. Matthew Stafford threw two of his three touchdown passes in the first half and directed the winning drive with just 16 seconds left. Washington lost despite Alex Smith, who set career highs with 38 completions, 55 attempts and 390 passing yards in his first start in two years.

Johnson shook off a slow start and blew away the field to win his first green jacket. He tapped in for par on the 18th for a 4-under 68 to finish at 20-under 268, breaking by two shots the record set by Tiger Woods in 1997 and matched by Jordan Spieth in 2015.

His five-shot victory was the largest at the Masters since Woods won by 12 in 1997. 

Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im tied for second at 15 under. Justin Thomas was fourth at 12 under.

No one had a better finish than Woods, the defending champion, but only after posting the highest score of his career — three balls in Rae's Creek for a 10 on the par-3 12th hole. He finished with five birdies over the last six holes to salvage a 76.

Hall of Fame Dodgers manager Lasorda hospitalized in ICU

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda has been hospitalized in Southern California.

The Los Angeles Dodgers said Sunday that their 93-year-old former manager was in intensive care and resting comfortably at a hospital in Orange County. Lasorda lives in Fullerton.

Lasorda attended the Dodgers' Game 6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Oct. 27 in Texas that clinched the Dodgers' first World Series title since 1988.

Lasorda had a heart attack in June 1996 and retired from managing the Dodgers the following month. Lasorda was hospitalized in New York eight years ago after having a heart attack.

UNDATED (AP) — The NBA offseason is over, and a wild few days of decisions and player movement are about to begin.

Teams may begin making trades Monday, according to a memo sent to teams and obtained early Sunday by The Associated Press. 

The first deal known to be tentatively agreed upon would send guard Dennis Schröder (SHROO'-dur) from Oklahoma City to the champion Los Angeles Lakers for Danny Green and the No. 28 pick in Wednesday's draft. That's according to a person with knowledge of the agreement. 

The league told teams that the "temporary transaction moratorium" across the league ends Monday at noon Eastern.

Also due Monday is All-NBA forward Anthony Davis' decision on his $28.7 million option year with the Lakers. He will formally decline in favor of signing a long-term and huge money contract with that club.

Nicolas Batum's (bah-TOOMZ') $27.1 million option decision with Charlotte is also due Monday. Most other player and team options around the league are due Thursday. Free agent talks can formally begin Friday at 6 p.m. Eastern, and signings may begin Sunday, Nov. 22.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Cavaliers say they have spoken to guard Kevin Porter Jr. following his arrest early Sunday on weapons possession. The team says it will address the matter privately.

The 2019 first-round draft pick., faces charges of improperly handling firearms in a vehicle, according to Mahoning (mah-HOH'-ning) County sheriff records. Porter was released on $4,000 bond.

Hamilton clinches record-tying 7th F1 title 

ISTANBUL (AP) — Lewis Hamilton has clinched a record-tying seventh Formula One title by winning a wet and gloomy Turkish Grand Prix. He shares the record with German great Michael Schumacher, the driver he replaced at Mercedes in 2013. 

Hamilton started from sixth place but took advantage of errors and poor tire strategies from other teams to win a fourth straight race and 10th of another hugely dominant season. The British driver now has a record-extending 94 victories.

FORT DODGE, Iowa –&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/cocking_louise_h2uv">Louise Cocking</a>&nbsp;got what she was looking for at the NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship – Redemption.

Two weeks after her self-proclaimed "most disappointing" race of the season at the Region VI Championships, the Hutchinson Community College freshman from Derbyshire, United Kingdom, posted her career-best effort on the sport's biggest stage on Saturday at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Cocking placed fifth individually to earn first-team NJCAA All-America honors and she led the Blue Dragons to a Top 10 team finish. Hutchinson matched its national ranking and finished seventh in the team race.

"I'm very happy with my performance," said Cocking, who said she ran in the coldest conditions in her career with a temperature of 39 and a gusty north wind that pushed the wind chill into the 20s at the start of the race.

"I didn't go out as fast and it was very windy so I tried to stay behind runners to I could fight the wind. As the race went on, I just stayed with the league pack."

Cocking was one of three Blue Dragons to post personal-best times on Saturday. She covered the 5,000 meters in 19:05.94.

That time represented the fastest time ever posted by a Blue Dragon runner in the national meet. Cocking also moved up to No. 3 on the all-time Blue Dragon cross country chart at 5,000 meters, trailing only Lisayo Ewoi (18:29.1) and Limo (18:50.0).

"If I would have run at regionals like I normally do, we would have finished third," Cocking said. "I knew that was important to the girls. I wanted to prove to the team that I could do my part and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it as well."

Cocking is Hutchinson's ninth NJCAA All-American and first since 2001 when Ruth Limo, Pam Shelite and Lisa Volk earned All-America honors for the national champion Blue Dragons. Cocking's fifth-place finish is the third-highest nationals placing by a Blue Dragon runner in team history. Elissa Peterman (1999) and Limo (2001) both placed fourth in their respective national races.

"Louise was a woman on a mission from when the gun went off," Blue Dragon head coach Justin Riggs said. "It was a lot of fun watching her. She moved really well all over the course. She ran a complete race.

"Louise has been very focused and very passionate about this sport. She came all the way to the United States to run. She is a competitor. She will compete with herself and the competition. It's fun to see her in that moment."

Hutchinson earned its first Top 10 national finish since 2004 and 11th overall with a seventh-place team performance. The Blue Dragons scored 182 points. They were the fourth-highest Region VI team in the Top 7.

No. 8 Ranger stunned the field by winning the team championship with 75 points. Ranger edged Cloud County by one point for the team national championship. Southern Idaho was third with 104 points, Colby fourth with 122 points and Dodge City fifth with 172 points. Iowa Western placed sixth with 179 points.

"It was one of the better races of the season for the women," Riggs said. "Probably the one thing that held the girls back this year was&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/wheeler_izzy_u3go">Izzy Wheeler</a>&nbsp;got her injury and was out a few weeks. She is still dealing with that and that held us back a little.

"The rest of the girls ran great. We did as good as we could."

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/too_sheila_5qb8">Sheila Too</a>&nbsp;earned Coaches All-America honors with a 21st-place finish. She is the first Blue Dragon to earned Coaches All-America honors (Top 25 finish) since Sarah Patteson and Gabby Collins in 2018. Too ran a time of 20:06.10 and improved 29 places from her freshman nationals finish of 50th.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/hidalgo_noel_7a59">Noel Hidalgo</a>&nbsp;ran a personal-best time and highest team finish. She was the third Blue Dragon to finish in a PR time of 21:04.11

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/miller_megan_6dkc">Megan Miller</a>&nbsp;improved her national placing 89 places over her freshman performance, placing 52nd in a time of 21:22.07.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/wheeler_izzy_u3go">Izzy Wheeler</a>&nbsp;placed 62nd in a time of 21:49.81

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wxc/2020-21/bios/yung_jurney_f5ew">Jurney Yung</a>&nbsp;had her second-straight PR to close out the season, placing 63rd with a time of 21:51.54. She improved her PR by 26.58 seconds.

Cocking earns 1st-team All-America honors; Blue Dragon Women place 7th

FORT DODGE, Iowa – All season long,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mxc/2020-21/bios/flanagan_teagan_iz8r">Teagan Flanagan</a>&nbsp;has run with a "Go Big or Go Home" mentality.

At Saturday's NJCAA Division I Men's National Cross Country Championships, the Hutchinson Community College sophomore did just that at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Flanagan went big and he came home as a first-team NJCAA All-American.

Flanagan finished fifth individually to become the 17th Blue Dragon NJCAA All-American in program history.

Flanagan's performance helped the Blue Dragon men finish fifth as a team, which matches the national ranking Hutchinson entered the championships with.

Running with his usual aggressive style in staying up with the lead pack, Flanagan had to battle another competitor – Mother Nature. The temperature at the start of the race was 41 degrees with 20+ degree wind chills as a strong and gusty north wind made things tough on the field.

"I thought he ran really smart," Blue Dragon head coach Justin Riggs said. "I went out and held back a little on the lead pack and slowly reeled them in. I think that helped him later in the race to stay in the Top 5. The kid works really hard at this and I'm happy for him."

Flanagan was neck-and-neck with leader and eventual winner Kelvin Bungei of Iowa Central at the 3-mile mark. At that point, the lead pack of five runners were all within 2 seconds of each other. From that point, Bungei pulled away and Flanagan dueled with Region VI rivals Habtamu Geta and Awet Baraki of Cloud County.

Geta wound up third and Ranger's Jeremias Serrano had a huge late kick to finish fourth, but Flanagan finished fifth, nearly 13 full seconds ahead of Baraki, the Region VI Individual champion.

"It wasn't the same pace as regionals. There were a lot of surges because of the conditions," Flanagan said. "We would slow down and then speed up. The conditions were tough. When we were going into the wind, I would stay being the pack. The wild also made it hard to breathe at times."

Flanagan posted a time of 25:23.93, the 10th-fastest time by a Blue Dragon in a national championship race.

Flanagan is the 10th NJCAA first-team All-American in program history.

With Flanagan's performance on Saturday, the Blue Dragons made a bit of history by having runners earn NJCAA All-America honors in three-straight seasons – Andrew Kibet in 2018 and Kibet and Sylvestre Kibarar in 2019. Having All-Americans in three-straight seasons had never been accomplished in program history.

Iowa Central won the men's team title with 85 points. Southern Idaho was second with 91 and Iowa Western was third with 95. Cloud County placed fourth with 122 points, followed by the Blue Dragons with 134.

This was Hutchinson's first Top 5 performance since 1998 and sixth Top 5 performance in team history. The Blue Dragons have three-straight Top 10 finishes with seventh-place showings in 2018 and 2019.

"It's been a crazy year. I didn't know what we were getting into with Covid going on," Riggs said. "I'm really proud them. We don't have a lot of depth so there isn't a member of the team that's been able to slack off. It put some pressure on them, but competition breeds success. They all had pressure to perform and we got a lot out of all the runners."

The Blue Dragons had three runners place in the Top 25 on Saturday.

Sophomore Jacob Mcelhanon finished 20th overall with a time of 26:26.99. Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mxc/2020-21/bios/delaney_cameron_5m5a">Cameron Delaney</a>&nbsp;posted a PR with a time of 26:34.62 to finish 23rd.

Mcelhanon and Delaney earned Coaches All-American honors for their Top 25 finishes.

"I thought we would get that from Jacob and I'm ecstatic seeing Cameron up there, too," Riggs said. "Cameron came on late in the race. He paced himself really smart. I'm really happy for both of them."

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mxc/2020-21/bios/holt_andrew_vx8x">Andrew Holt</a>&nbsp;placed 37th overall with a time of 27:14.08. Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mxc/2020-21/bios/schrag_matthew_erzg">Matthew Schrag</a>&nbsp;was 54th in a time of 27:50.17

The temperature at the start of the race was 41 degrees with 20+ degree wind chills as a strong and gusty north wind made things tough on the field."I thought he ran really smart," Blue Dragon head coach Justin Riggs said. "I went out and held back a little on the lead pack and slowly reeled them in. I think that helped him later in the race to stay in the Top 5. The kid works really hard at this and I'm happy for him."Flanagan was neck-and-neck with leader and eventual winner Kelvin Bungei of Iowa Central at the 3-mile mark. At that point, the lead pack of five runners were all within 2 seconds of each other. From that point, Bungei pulled away and Flanagan dueled with Region VI rivals Habtamu Geta and Awet Baraki of Cloud County.Geta wound up third and Ranger's Jeremias Serrano had a huge late kick to finish fourth, but Flanagan finished fifth, nearly 13 full seconds ahead of Baraki, the Region VI Individual champion."It wasn't the same pace as regionals. There were a lot of surges because of the conditions," Flanagan said. "We would slow down and then speed up. The conditions were tough. When we were going into the wind, I would stay being the pack. The wild also made it hard to breathe at times."Flanagan posted a time of 25:23.93, the 10th-fastest time by a Blue Dragon in a national championship race.Flanagan is the 10th NJCAA first-team All-American in program history.With Flanagan's performance on Saturday, the Blue Dragons made a bit of history by having runners earn NJCAA All-America honors in three-straight seasons – Andrew Kibet in 2018 and Kibet and Sylvestre Kibarar in 2019. Blue Dragon Men's Cross Country finishes season strong at NJCAA Nationals

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Luke McCaffrey had a hand in two touchdowns in his first start, Nebraska's defense made two huge late defensive stops and the Cornhuskers held on to beat Penn State 30-23 for their first win. McCaffrey took over for Adrian Martinez, who had started all of his 23 previous games at Nebraska but turned in flat performances in the Cornhuskers' first two games. McCaffrey looked good in the first half, but the Huskers generated only three points in the second and Penn State came back from a 21-point deficit behind backup quarterback Will Levis to make it close. The Lions, at 0-4, are off to their worst since 2001. Nebraska is 1-2.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Trae Self threw for a pair of scores and Jaquarion Turner ran for 109 yards and Stephen F. Austin beat NCAA Division II-member Pittsburg State (Kan.) 26-7. The Lumberjacks built a 10-0 lead after the first quarter. Self ran it in from two yards out ending a 15-play, 72-yard drive. The feisty Gorillas countered with an eight-play, 91-yard scoring drive that led to their lone score when Mak Sexton threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Christian Carter early in the second quarter.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Dustin Johnson broke up a logjam on the Masters' leaderboard while tying the tournament's 54-hole record.

The top-ranked Johnson fired a 7-under 65 to take a four-stroke lead into the final round of the year's last major. His 16 under total matches the mark set by Jordan Spieth (speeth) in his 2015 victory at Augusta. 

Johnson also became the first player to shoot two rounds of 65 or better in the same Masters. 

Johnson shot 30 on the front nine, carding an eagle on the second hole and following with birdies on the next two. He's played 30 straight holes without a bogey.

An international trio of Sungjae Im, Cameron Smith and Abraham Ancer (AN'-sur) share second and minus-12, one ahead of Dylan Frittelli. Justin Thomas is six off the pace and one in front of Patrick Reed, Jon Rahm and Sebastian Munoz.

UNDATED (AP) — Second-ranked Notre Dame fell behind early on Saturday before the Irish dominated Boston College with an offensive onslaught.

Ian Book passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Irish outscored the Eagles, 45-31. Notre Dame racked up a season-high 561 total yards, with Book providing 283 through the air and 85 on the ground.

Ben Skowronek (skoh-RAH'-nehk) caught all three of Book's TD passes as the Irish improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the ACC.

BC led 10-3 before Notre Dame outscored the Eagles, 28-6 the rest of the first half.

Former Irish QB Phil Jurkovec finished 18 of 40 for 272 yards, a touchdown and interception.

The Hoosiers are 4-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1987 as they prepare for their showdown against third-ranked Ohio State.

— Tyler Shough (shohg) threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns in 11th-ranked Oregon's 43-29 comeback over Washington State. Travis Dye caught two second-half touchdown passes and the Ducks piled up 582 total yards in improving to 2-0. Freshman Jayden de Laura threw for 321 yards and two scores for the Cougars, who led 19-7 but could not stop the Ducks in the second half.

— Nakia Watson and Mason Stokke (STAH'-kee) each scored two touchdowns in the first half of No. 13 Wisconsin's 49-11 dismantling of Michigan. The Wolverines fell behind 28-0 at halftime, their largest deficit at home since the Big House opened in 1927. The Badgers finished with 341 yards rushing and five scores on the ground in their first game since having two games canceled because of COVID-19. 

— Grant Wells tossed a season-high five touchdown passes for 16th-ranked Marshall in a 42-14 pounding of Middle Tennessee. Corey Gammage (GAM'-aj) and Willie Johnson each caught two touchdown passes from Wells, who was 25 of 37 for 336 yards for the 7-0 Thundering Herd. The win comes on the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that killed 75 Marshall players, team supporters and flight crew members. 

— No. 19 SMU squandered a 21-point, second-quarter lead in a 28-24 loss to Tulsa. Zach Smith turned the ball over on the Golden Hurricane's first two possessions, but he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns to help Tulsa improve to 4-1. It was the third time this season the Golden Hurricane won after trailing by double digits in the first half, and the second time they did it against a ranked team.

Heisman Trophy to be awarded Jan. 5; Finalists on Dec. 24

UNDATED (AP) — The Heisman Trophy will be presented Jan. 5 without the usual ceremony held in New York City. The finalists will be revealed on Dec. 24. 

The deadline to vote for the Heisman is now Dec. 21, two days after the conference championship games are scheduled to be played.

Before college football schedules were revised because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Heisman was set to be handed out Dec. 12. 

Browns activate RB Chubb after knee injury

UNDATED (AP) — The Browns can hand off the ball to Nick Chubb again. Cleveland has activated the star running back from injured reserve, clearing the way for him to play Sunday against Houston after missing four games with a sprained right knee. 

The Browns were leading the NFL in rushing when Chubb got hurt, and Cleveland's offense hasn't been the same without the 2019 Pro Bowler. Chubb will return to face a Houston defense that is allowing a league-worst 159.5 yards rushing per game.

— Bills cornerback Josh Norman has tested positive for COVID-19 and was one of four Buffalo players and one assistant coach not traveling with the team for its game at Arizona on Sunday. The AFC East-leading Bills also ruled out tight end Tyler Kroft, cornerback Levi Wallace and safety Dean Marlowe by placing them on the reserve-COVID-19 list. Defensive assistant coach Leonard Johnson also will not travel with the team.

— The Packers have activated linebacker Christian Kirksey from injured reserve and placed tight end/fullback John Lovett on injured reserve. Kirksey ranks fifth on the team with 27 tackles despite having played in less than half of the Packers' eight games. 

Cheeks returns to hometown as assistant to Bulls' Donovan

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls say Hall of Famer Maurice Cheeks is returning to his hometown to serve as an assistant under new coach Billy Donovan. 

Cheeks grew up on the South Side of Chicago and was on Donovan's staff in Oklahoma City the past five seasons. The Bulls hired Donovan in September to replace the fired Jim Boylen. 

Cheeks spent most of his 15-year playing career with the Philadelphia 76ers. He compiled a record of 305-315 as the head coach of the Pistons, Sixers and Trail Blazers. 

Hamilton clinches record 7th F1 title with win at Turkish GP

ISTANBUL (AP) — Lewis Hamilton has clinched a record-tying seventh Formula One title after winning a wet and gloomy Turkish Grand Prix. He now stands alongside F1 great Michael Schumacher with seven titles.

Hamilton placed about 30 seconds ahead of Racing Point's Sergio Perez and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who overtook teammate Charles Leclerc for his first podium of a difficult season.

Hamilton only needed to finish ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas to seal his sixth title for Mercedes, and Bottas placed a lowly 14th after making a poor start. Hamilton's other title was with McLaren in 2008. 

He was in tears when he spoke on the team radio moments after crossing the line in Istanbul, saying "that's for all the kids out there who dream the impossible. You can do it."

He now stands alongside F1 great Michael Schumacher with seven titles.Hamilton started from sixth place but took advantage of errors and poor tire strategies from other teams to win a fourth straight race and 10th of another hugely dominant season. The British driver now has a record-extending 94 victories. Hamilton placed about 30 seconds ahead of Racing Point's Sergio Perez and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who overtook teammate Charles Leclerc for his first podium of a difficult season.Hamilton only needed to finish ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas to seal his sixth title for Mercedes, and Bottas placed a lowly 14th after making a poor start. Hamilton's other title was with McLaren in 2008. He was in tears when he spoke on the team radio moments after crossing the line in Istanbul, saying "that's for all the kids out there who dream the impossible. You can do it."
