Hutchinson – The Monarchs continued to hit well on Sunday at Hobart-Detter as the defeated the Sunflower Seeds 8-4. 

A Cooper Harris two-run homer in the first got the Monarchs going. Cole Cosman then doubled and scored to make it 3-0. It stayed that way until the Seeds pushed two across in the third and two more in the fifth. Hutchinson rallied in their half of the fifth with Cosman driving in Harris to tie it up. The Monarchs took the lead with a pair of tallies in the sixth as Easton Loyd drove in Cal Watkins on a fielder's choice and scored himself to make it 6-4. The Monarchs then stretched their lead out with single tallies in the seventh and eighth.

Mikel Howell got the win for the Monarchs. The Monarchs are now 6-1 on the year. The Monarchs and Seeds continue their series Monday at Hobart-Detter. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

(AP) — Chris Bassitt escaped a scary line drive to win his seventh straight decision, Matt Olson homered twice and the Oakland Athletics powered past the Kansas City Royals for a 6-3 win. Olson hit solo shots in the third and fifth for his second two-homer game this season and 10th of his career, while Matt Chapman also connected to back Bassitt. After losing his first two decisions of the season, he hasn't lost.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Chase Kalisz is heading back to the Olympics after winning the 400-meter individual medley on the opening night of the U.S. swimming trials in Omaha. Cheered on by Michael Phelps, Kalisz powered to the finish to get another shot at a medal in Tokyo. He won a silver at Rio in 2016. The Americans got some new blood on women's side: 19-year-old Emma Weyant held off three Olympic veterans to win a thrilling 400 IM. Another Olympic rookie, Kieran Smith, shaved nearly 3 seconds off his previous personal best to win the 400 freestyle and claim his spot for Tokyo.

UNDATED (AP) — North Carolina State, Texas, Tennessee and Arizona wrapped up their NCAA super regionals and locked up spots in the College World Series. NC State knocked out No. 1 national seed Arkansas with a 3-2 win in a deciding Game 3. Tennessee defeated LSU 15-6 and Texas beat South Florida 12-4 to complete two-game sweeps. Arizona closed out a three-game series against Mississippi with a 16-3 victory. Virginia beat Dallas Baptist 4-0 and Notre Dame defeated Mississippi State 9-1 to force deciding third games Monday. Vanderbilt and Stanford clinched CWS berths Saturday.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Amanda Weir just can't bring herself to say the word "retirement." She's still at the pool at age 35, still toiling away against kids half her age — if that. While swimming will always be a young person's sport, Weir has plenty of company in the 30-and-older club. Thirteen such athletes are competing at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Among them is 40-year-old gold medalist Anthony Ervin. While Ervin knows is chances of making the team are remote, others are more hopeful. Thirty-two-year Nathan Adrian has a shot at making it to another Olympics in Tokyo. Ryan Lochte also thinks he can make the team.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets have lost their lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals while losing another All-Star in the process.

The Bucks have evened the series at two games apiece with a 107-96 win over the Nets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH'-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON'-poh) finished with 34 points and Khris Middleton had 19 for the Bucks, who managed just 86 in each of the previous two games.

The Nets scored 13 straight points to take a 34-23 lead, but Milwaukee responded with a 19-4 spurt.

Brooklyn finished the game without Kyrie Irving because of a sprained right ankle suffered in the second quarter. The injury left the Nets without their starting guards.

Kevin Durant had 28 points and 13 rebounds for the Nets, who host Game 5 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Suns roared into the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 11 years.

Phoenix completed a four-game sweep with a 125-118 win over the Nuggets in Denver. The Suns' starting guards carried the offense again, with Chris Paul delivering 37 points and seven assists. Devin Booker added 32 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Denver center Nikola Jokic (nih-KOH'-lah YOH'-kihch) was tossed with 3:52 left in the third quarter and the Nuggets trailing, 83-76. His hard right-hand windmill swipe sent the basketball flying but also caught Cameron Payne in the face, leaving the Nuggets without their reigning NBA Most Valuable Player.

Will Barton was high man for the Nuggets with 25 points, while Jokic added 22 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The New York Islanders have opened their semifinal series by knocking off the defending Stanley Cup champs.

Semyon Varlamov (SEHM'-yahn vahr-LAH'-mahv) made 30 saves and the Isles got goals from Mathew Barzal and Ryan Pulock to beat the Lightning, 2-1 in Tampa.

Varlamov blanked Tampa Bay until Brayden Point netted a power-play goal in the final minute. Varlamov won his fourth straight playoff start, joining teammate Ilya Sorokin (sah-ROH'-kihn) as only the third pair of netminding teammates to have personal winning streaks of at least four games in a single postseason. 

Barzal scored for the fourth time in five games, making it 1-0 on a breakaway in the second period following a bad pass by Lightning captain Steven Stamkos. Pulock doubled New York's lead with a shot from the point that eluded Andre Vasilevskiy (va-sih-LEHV'-skee), who was otherwise brilliant in net. 

The Islanders will carry a four-game winning streak into Game 2 on Tuesday in Tampa.

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers continue to share the NL Central lead while putting distance between themselves and the St. Louis Cardinals

Christian Yelich (YEH'-lihch) added a pinch-hit sacrifice fly on his bobblehead day, helping the Brew Crew win for the 14th time in 16 games despite collecting just five hits. 

Josh Hader struck out the side in the ninth for his 17th save in as many chances, closing out the Pirates' seventh consecutive loss.

— Eugenio (ay-oo-HEH'-nee-oh) Suárez hit an early two-run homer and the surging Reds climbed back over .500 for the first time since April 21 by beating the Rockies, 6-2. The Reds have won 10 of their last 13, including three straight over the Rockies. 

— Austin Riley homered and drove in three runs to help the Braves dump the Marlins, 6-4 and end a four-game losing streak. Ender Inciarte (ihn-see-AHR'-tay) also homered to support Drew Smyly, who gave up two runs over five innings on his 32nd birthday. 

— Fernando Tatis (tah-TEES') Jr. launched a tiebreaking grand slam in the seventh inning and Manny Machado (mah-CHAH'-doh) followed with a homer as the Padres topped the Mets, 7-3 to end a four-game skid. Chris Paddack struck out nine over six strong innings in his first win since May 21.

— Kyle Schwarber drove in four runs with homers in his first two at-bats as the Nationals blanked the NL West-leading Giants, 5-0. Joe Ross allowed five hits in eight innings as the Nationals gained a four-game split.

— The Dodgers were 5-3 winners over the Rangers behind Walker Buehler (BYOO'-lur), who is 6-0 after tossing four-hit ball over six scoreless innings. Zach McKinstry had a two-run double while going 3 for 3 with a walk in LA's fifth victory in six games.

— The Phillies completed a two-game sweep of the Yankees as Aaron Nola allowed three hits and struck out nine in a 7-0 shutout. Odubel (oh-DOO'-bul) Herrera, Jean Segura and J.T. Realmuto (ree-al-MOO'-toh) combined to go 7 for 13 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and five RBIs.

— Carlos Rodón flirted with another no-hitter and the White Sox completed a three-game sweep by knocking off Detroit, 4-1. Rodón was going for his second no-hitter of the season until Eric Haase doubled with one out in the seventh. 

—Teoscar Hernández belted a pair of three-run shots over the Green Monster, two of the Blue Jays' eight homers in an 18-4 rout of the Red Sox. Vladimir Guerrero (guh-REHR'-oh) Jr., Bo Bichette (bih-SHEHT'), Lourdes Gurriel (gur-ee-EHL') Jr., Cavan Biggio (BIH'-zhee-oh), Rowdy Tellez and Marcus Semien also went deep, a day after Toronto homered five times at Fenway. 

— The Rays won for the 23rd time in their last 28 games by drubbing the Orioles, 7-1. Randy Arozarena hit his first career grand slam and Tampa Bay relievers combined for seven no-hit innings to send Baltimore to its team record-extending 15th consecutive road loss. 

— Michael Brantley had his second four-hit game of the series and drove in four runs to highlight the Astros' 20-hit attack in a 14-3 assault on the Twins. Minnesota's Michael Pineda left after four innings due to a reoccurrence of right forearm soreness that first bothered him June 1.

— Athletics hurler Chris Bassitt escaped a scary line drive to win his seventh straight decision, allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings to beat the Royals, 6-3. Matt Olson hit a pair of solo homers and Matt Chapman also connected for Oakland.

— Jake Fraley slammed a two-run homer off AL Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead in a 6-2 downing of the Indians. Fraley entered the game in place of Mitch Haniger, who suffered a bruise when he fouled a pitch off his left knee in the first inning.

— Patrick Sandoval pitched four-hit ball into the seventh inning of the Angels' sixth consecutive win, a 10-3 pounding of the Diamondbacks. Max Stassi hit a two-run homer in the first and Jared Walsh added a two-run shot in the eighth.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians have optioned Triston McKenzie to Triple-A Columbus for the fourth time this season. 

The right-hander failed to get out of the first inning Saturday against Seattle. McKenzie began the season in the rotation and is now 1-3 with a 6.38 ERA in 11 games, leading the AL with 39 walks.

— Steven Matz was placed on the COVID-related injured list by the Blue Jays, one day after the left-hander beat the Red Sox. Matz allowed one run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings on Saturday. Right-hander Jeremy Beasley was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, a day after he was optioned.

Djokovic rallies for his 2nd French Open title

PARIS (AP) — Novak Djokovic (JOH'-koh-vihch) has won his second French Open championship and his 19th Grand Slam title with a grueling comeback.

Djokovic rallied past Stefanos Tsitsipas (SEET'-see-pahs), 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. Djokovic also erased a two-set deficit to win in the fourth round and has done it six times in his career.

Djokovic was coming off an epic semifinal victory over Rafael Nadal. But the 34-year-old Serb found his form and held every service game in the final three sets.

Meanwhile, Barbora Krejcikova (kreh-jih-KOH'-vah) became the first woman since Mary Pierce in 2000 to sweep the singles and doubles titles at Roland Garros. Playing with fellow Cezch player Katerina Siniakova, they won the doubles final 6-4, 6-2 against Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States and Iga Swiatek of Poland.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Kyle Larson held off a hard-charging Brad Keselowski during the final 10-lap shootout to win NASCAR's All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Larson took the lead with a slippery three-wide pass and captured the $1 million first prize. He pushed Hendrick Motorsports to its second consecutive win and 10th overall in the annual non-points race.

Larson was with Chip Ganassi Racing when he won the 2019 All-Star race. He missed last year's big event at Bristol while serving a six-month suspension after using a racial slur during the livestream while in a virtual race during the pandemic. 

Defending All-Star winner and reigning Cup champion Chase Elliott, who started the sixth and final segment out front, didn't stay there long. 

Keselowski finished second, followed by Elliott, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney.

DETROIT (AP) — Pato O'Ward has become IndyCar's first repeat winner of the season by charging through the field on a final restart to steal the victory away from Josef Newgarden at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park. 

O'Ward drove from fifth to first in five laps to win his second race of the season. 

O'Ward dedicated the win to Arrow McLaren SP teammate Felix Rosenqvist, who was hospitalized overnight following his crash in Saturday's first race of the doubleheader. 

Newgarden finished second after leading 67 of the 70 laps.

RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP) — South Africa's Garrick Higgo (HIH'-goh) has earned his first PGA victory by taking the Palmetto Championship in South Carolina. 

Higgo went ahead when leader Chesson Hadley bogeyed his final three holes to lose his two-shot lead. The 22-year-old Higgo was making just his second tour start. 

Hadley had to settle for a second-place tie with Doc Redman, Hudson Swafford, Tyrrell Hatton, Bo Van Pelt and Jhonattan Vegas.

DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) — Matilda Castren has become the first Finnish winner in LPGA Tour history by capturing the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship, holding off Min Lee by two strokes.

Two strokes behind Lee entering the final round, Castren birdied the first three holes, eagled the par-5 fifth and birdied the par-5 ninth for a front-nine 30.

Castern followed with eight straight pars and holed a 3-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th for a 7-under 65. 

Jerry Kelly successfully defends hometown Champions title

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Jerry Kelly has successfully defended his title in his hometown American Insurance Championship, closing with a 6-under 66 for a one-stroke victory over Fred Couples and Miguel Angel Jimenez.

The 54-year-old Kelly finished at 14-under 202 at University Ridge for his eighth PGA Tour Champions victory.

Couples bogeyed the par-5 18th for a 68. 

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins and linebacker Jerome Baker have agreed on a three-year, $39 million contract extension. 

His agent Drew Rosenhaus says the deal includes $28.4 million in guaranteed money. 

Baker has played in all 48 games in his first three seasons with the Dolphins and started 37 of them. He led the Dolphins in tackles in each of the past two seasons and had a career-best seven sacks in 2020.

Tulsa, OK – Josh Winder pitched six innings, allowed one run on three hits and punched out seven Tulsa Drillers and earned his second win of the season. The Surge defeated the Tulsa Drillers 7-1 and won the final two games of the series.

Jose Miranda drilled the third pitch out of the ballpark to give Wichita a 1-0 lead and the Surge never looked back. The Surge added another run in the first and scored four in the second inning. Roy Morales and Aaron Whitefield each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Miranda led the team with three hits.

The Wind Surge allowed a run in the second inning and Winder cruised from then on. Wichita retried 21 consecutive hitters from the second inning until the ninth. Yennier Cano worked two scoreless innings and Jason Garcia made his Wichita debut with a scoreless ninth inning.

Matt Chapman also connected and drove in three runs. Skye Bolt added his first career home run for the A's. James Kaprielian overcame control issues and pitched two-hit ball over six innings. The highly touted Kowar was tagged for four runs on five hits and three walks in just 1 1/3 innings. Kowar made his major league debut last Monday and got only two outs against the Angels, allowing four runs on three hits, two walks and three wild pitches.

EASTLAKE, Ohio (AP) — Travis Kelce felt surrounded. Kansas City's All-Pro tight end was at home in Cleveland, but also in enemy territory as he played in a softball charity game against several Browns players. The event was hosted by Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who convinced teammates Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and Myles Garrett to participate. Kelce feels the Browns are "neck and neck" with the Chiefs, the two-time defending AFC champions. Cleveland will open the 2021 season in Kansas City, where the Browns' 2020 season ended with a playoff loss. &nbsp;&nbsp;

UNDATED (AP) — Reigning national champion Vanderbilt and Stanford swept their NCAA super regionals and became the first teams to lock up spots in the College World Series. Jack Leiter gave Vanderbilt another stellar pitching performance in a 4-1 win over East Carolina. Stanford's Alex Williams pitched a two-hitter and Brock Jones homered three times in a 9-0 win at Texas Tech. North Carolina State beat Arkansas 6-5 to even that series. Mississippi also tied its series with Arizona with a 12-3 victory. In super regional openers, Mississippi State beat Notre Dame 9-8, Dallas Baptist defeated Virginia 6-5, Tennessee beat LSU 4-2, and Texas posted a 4-3 walk-off win over South Florida.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The U.S. Olympic swimming trials get underway this weekend in Omaha. It's where Ryan Lochte goes after his fifth — and final — Olympic berth. Katie Ledecky seeks to extend her dominance at the eight-day meet that opens Sunday. The U.S. trials are considered more competitive than the Olympics. Swimmers have to finish first or second to earn berths for next month's Tokyo Games. After a year-long delay because of the coronavirus pandemic, half the amount of fans as usual will be allowed at the trials. &nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Daniel Salloi tied it in the 71st minute and Sporting Kansas City held on for a 1-1 draw with expansion Austin FC. Johnny Russell challenged Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver for a loose ball in the middle of the penalty area and the rebound fell to Salloi, who smashed it home. Cecilio Domínguez opened the scoring for Austin with a right-footed shot in the 26th minute.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Even as she attempts to qualify for her third U.S. Olympic team, champion swimmer Katie Ledecky is keeping an eye on the NHL playoffs. Her uncle, Jon Ledecky, is a co-owner of the New York Islanders. The team has advanced to the final four of the Stanley Cup playoffs, facing the Tampa Bay Lightning in a best-of-seven series for the chance to take on either Las Vegas or Montreal in the final. Game 1 is Sunday afternoon. Katie Ledecky will be watching from Omaha, where she is competing in the U.S. Olympic swimming trials that also begin Sunday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Clippers have climbed back into their NBA Western Conference semifinal series, avoiding an 0-3 hole.

Kawhi (kah-WY') Leonard had 34 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers in a 132-106 trouncing of the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles. Paul George chipped in 31 points, marking the second time he and Leonard have scored at least 30 in the same postseason game this year.

George shot only 34% from the field in the first two games but was 12 of 24 in this one, including 6 of 10 on 3-pointers. He had 13 points in the second quarter, eight during a 13-2 run when LA seized control.

Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 30 points, his fifth straight games with at least 30. 

The Clippers host Game 4 on Monday, when they will try to even the series at two games apiece.

Harden out Sunday, but Green could return

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets will play a third straight game without All-Star guard James Harden when they take on the Bucks in Milwaukee on Sunday.

Harden experienced tightness in his right hamstring during the opening minute in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. He missed 20 games late in the regular season due to a hamstring strain.

However, the Nets could have the services of Jeff Green on Sunday as they try to take a three-games-to-one lead. Green hasn't played since Game 2 of the first-round series against the Celtics due to a plantar fascia strain.

UNDATED (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays continue to roll since losing 15 of their first 28 games.

Joey Wendle hit an RBI double during a three-run first inning that sent the Rays past the Orioles, 5-4. Brandon Lowe made it 5-0 on a two-out, two-run double in the fourth, allowing Tampa Bay to improve to 28-10 since May 2.

Rich Hill was working on a shutout until Austin Wynns hit a grand slam in the fifth to chase the left-hander. 

Reliever Collin McHugh struck out five and gave up one hit in two scoreless innings for his first win in 22 months.

The Orioles have dropped 14 straight road games, their longest such skid since the franchise moved to Baltimore.

— Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked his major league-leading 20th home run and Marcus Semien stretched his road hitting streak to 25 games with a round-tripper in the Blue Jays' 7-2 win at Boston. Bo Bichette (bih-SHEHT'), Cavan Biggio (BIH'-shee-oh) and Reese McGuire also went deep for the Blue Jays, who had dropped four of their last five.

— Dylan Cease (sees) allowed two runs on four hits in five innings before being removed with a 13-2 lead in the White Sox's 15-2 dismantling of the Tigers. Brian Goodwin homered and drove in five runs in his White Sox debut, two days after being recalled from the minors.

— The Athletics improved to 11-2 against the AL Central as Matt Olson had four hits, including his 16th home run in an 11-2 pounding of the Royals. Matt Chapman also connected and drove in three runs for Oakland, while Skye Bolt added his first career home run.

— Minnesota's José Berríos (beh-REE'-ohs) struck out eight over seven commanding innings of a 5-2 victory against the Astros. Jorge Polanco (poh-LAHN'-koh) homered for the fifth time in 11 games and finished with three RBIs.

— César Hernández scored on a throwing error by losing pitcher Paul Sewald in the 10th inning, completing the Indians' rally for a 5-4 victory over the Mariners. Hernandez also homered in the eighth after Cleveland fell behind, 4-0. Rene Rivera tied it with a two-run double in the ninth.

— The Mets were 4-1 winners over the Padres as Marcus Stroman limited San Diego to one run and six hits with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. Francisco Lindor (lihn-DOHR') slammed a two-run homer in the first inning and Stroman blanked the Padres until Fernando Tatis (tah-TEES') Jr. smacked his 18th homer of the season in the seventh.

— Zach Thompson picked up his first major league win by tossing five shutout innings in the Marlins' third straight victory, 4-2 over the Braves. Adam Duvall and Lewin Díaz hit solo homers and Miami dealt Atlanta its fourth loss in a row.

— Erick Fedde (FEH'-dee) returned after nearly a month on the COVID-19 injured list, tossing four-hit ball while fanning seven over five innings of the Nationals' 2-1 victory over the Giants. Kyle Schwarber belted a first-inning homer in the opener of a day-night twinbill.

— The Giants gained a split by scoring twice in the eighth to beat Washington, 2-1. The game was scoreless until LaMonte Wade and Wilmer Flores provided RBI singles.

— Nate Lowe was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBIs for the Rangers in a 12-1 thrashing of the Dodgers. Jonah Heim and Jason Martin also homered as Texas ended a 16-game road losing streak, the team's longest since moving from Washington.

— Jean Segura scored Ronald Torreyes with an infield single in the 10th inning to give the Phillies their fifth win in six games, 8-7 over the Yankees. Segura's second walk-off hit in as many games came after DJ LeMahieu launched a tying, three-run homer in the ninth for New York.

— Wade Miley was 2-for-2 with a walk and allowed just two earned runs over seven innings to send the Reds to a 10-3 rout of the Rockies. Joey Votto (VAH'-toh) poked a go-ahead, two-run single and Tyler Naquin had three hits to help Cincinnati win for the ninth time in 12 games since falling a season-worst six games under .500.

— Anthony Rendon homered and drove in four runs as the Angels rallied to beat the Diamondbacks, 8-7. Los Angeles trailed by as many as five and took the lead in the ninth on RBI singles by Jose Iglesias and Taylor Ward.

Mets' ace Jacob deGrom on track for next scheduled start

UNDATED (AP) — The New York Mets and two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom are breathing easier after the ace had to be removed from Friday's game with tendinitis in his right elbow.

DeGrom is expected to make his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Cubs. He threw six magnificent innings on Friday before his removal, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit while facing the minimum number of batters.

DeGrom threw a bullpen session on Saturday, and a precautionary MRI showed no problem.

DeGrom owns a 0.56 ERA, the best through 10 starts since earned run average became an official stat.

— First baseman Max Muncy is going on the Dodgers' injured list with a right oblique muscle strain. The Dodgers recalled outfielder Luke Raley to take the roster spot of Muncy, who left Friday's game in the second inning.

— Yankees right-hander Luis Severino was removed from a minor league rehab start Saturday with a right groin injury that will require an MRI. He limped behind the mound, struggling to put weight on his right leg after throwing a pitch in the second inning. Severino was making his second rehab start following Tommy John surgery in February of 2020, pitching for High A Hudson Valley against Brooklyn.

— Reliever Hunter Strickland has been purchased by Milwaukee from the Angels as the Brewers attempt to see if he can regain his early-season form. The Angels purchased Strickland from the Rays on May 15 before designating him for assignment Monday. Strickland had a 1.69 ERA in 13 appearances for Tampa Bay but posted a 9.95 ERA in nine games with the Angels. 

— The Twins have announced that former 20-game winner Jim "Mudcat" Grant has died at age 85. Grant won 21 games for the American League pennant-winning Twins of 1965, becoming the first Black to win 20 in an AL season. He was 124-100 with a 3.67 ERA over 14 major league season with seven teams.

Inspired by Novotna, Krejcikova wins 1st Slam title in Paris

PARIS (AP) — Unseeded Barbora Krejcikova (kreh-jih-KOH'-vah) has won her first Grand Slam title by beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (pahv-loo-CHIHN'-koh-vah) 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in the French Open final.

This was only the fifth major tournament in singles for Krejcikova. The 25-year-old from the Czech Republic is the third unseeded women's champion in the last five years at Roland Garros.

Krejcikova also has a finals match in women's double on Sunday. No one has won the French Open women's singles and doubles titles in the same year since Mary Pierce in 2000.

The 31st-seeded Pavlyuchenkova was playing in her first Grand Slam final in the 52nd major tournament of her career. 

MONTREAL (AP) — Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans will accompany the Canadiens to Las Vegas for their Stanley Cup semifinal series against the Golden Knights, as will injured defensemen Jeff Petry and Jon Merrill. 

Evans hasn't played since sustaining a concussion on a hit by Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele (SHY'-flee) in the Habs' Game 1 victory on June 2.

Interim Canadiens coach Dominque Ducharme said Friday he wasn't very confident the three players would dress for Game 1 on Monday night.

RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP) — Chesson Hadley moved a step closer to his first PGA Tour victory in seven years, opening a four-stroke lead over Harris English and six over Dustin Johnson in the rain-delayed Palmetto Championship at Congaree.

Hadley surged late with four birdies on a five-hole stretch of the back nine to reach 14 under. 

Hadley, English, Johnson and Lee Tain were all on the 18th hole when the horn sounded to stop play because of lightning. Rain followed about 10 minutes later and officials waited more than two hours for things to clear before telling the players they had to return to finish Sunday morning. 

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Miguel Angel Jimenez will carry a one-stroke lead over Fred Couples into the final round of the PGA Tour Champions' American Insurance Championship.

Jimenez fired a 3-under 69 on Saturday for a 10-under total at University Ridge in Madison, Wisconsin. He grabbed the lead on Friday with a 65.

The 61-year-old Couples followed an opening 68 with a 67. He won the tournament in 2017, the last of his 13 senior titles.

DETROIT (AP) — Felix Rosenqvist will spend a night in a Detroit hospital following a crash early in the IndyCar race on Belle Isle. The throttle appeared to stick in Rosenqvist's car as he entered the sixth turn. 

The Swede slammed into a tire barrier with tremendous force, moving the retaining wall. Rosenqvist's car was stuck nose-up at a nearly 45-degree angle.

IndyCar's safety team placed Rosenqvist in a neck brace while the race was red-flagged for the wall to be rebuilt.

Tulsa, OK – Aaron Whitefield drove home three runs and the Wichita Wind Surge defeated the Tulsa Drillers 4-2 in ten innings in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,935 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

The Drillers scored a run in the fourth inning to take the early lead, 1-0. Tulsa added another run in the fifth inning to make it a 2-0 advantage.

The Surge were held without a hit for the first six innings of the game. Tulsa starter Ryan Pepiot allowed one base-runner on a sixth inning walk. The Wind Surge offense tied the game in the seventh, Jermaine Palacios drew a lead-off walk and Ernie De La Trinidad singled to left field. Whitefield drilled a two out, two run single into centerfield to tie the game.

With the score 3-3, Matt Chapman doubled over leaping third baseman Hanser Alberto with one out and Seth Brown was intentionally walked by Scott Barlow. Andrus, whose .213 average coming in was 140th among 143 qualified batters, followed with a sharp liner to right, and Chapman scored with a headfirst slide ahead of Jarrod Dyson's throw. Andrus made an error in the eighth and was slow on a throw, extending the inning.

CHICAGO (AP) — Joc Pederson homered and drove in three runs, Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras went deep and the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-5 on Friday afternoon. The Cubs billed it as "Opening Day 2.0" because Wrigley Field was operating at 100% capacity for the first time since 2019. They fell behind 5-1, only to treat the crowd of 35,112 to a comeback win over their NL Central rivals. Pederson gave the Cubs a 7-5 lead in the seventh with a two-run double off the wall in right-center against Génesis Cabrera. Rizzo tied it at 5-all in the sixth with his drive to right against Daniel Ponce de Leon.&nbsp;

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Ryan Lochte knows what people think of him. The swimmer who embarrassed himself and the U.S. five years ago in Rio de Janeiro is seeking to make his record-tying fifth Olympic team. He's 36, married and the father of two young children. Lochte says his life has completely changed from five years ago and he's more mature and centered. He's entered in six events at the U.S. trials that begin this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. His best chance is likely in the 200-meter individual medley, where his world record set in 2011 still stands.

UNDATED (AP) — The opening ceremony for the Tokyo Olympics is six weeks away but NBC's coverage of the upcoming Games shifts into high gear beginning this weekend. NBC will present 13 nights of primetime coverage of U.S. trials in four sports over the next two weeks, beginning Saturday with the diving trials. The network's coverage will also include swimming, track &amp; field and gymnastics. Trials coverage remains an important part of NBC's preparations for the games. Swimming and track &amp; field will get the most coverage hours with both trials lasting eight days. Swimming starts Sunday in Omaha, Nebraska, with track scheduled to begin on June 18 in Eugene, Oregon.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers have ended the Atlanta Hawks' 13-game home winning streak while taking a two-games-to-one lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals.

Joel Embiid (joh-EHL' ehm-BEED') scored 27 points and the 76ers rode a dominant third quarter to a 127-111 victory over the Hawks. Embiid added nine rebounds, eight assists and three blocked shots despite playing with torn cartilage in his right knee. 

Tobias Harris had 22 points and Ben Simmons added 18 for the Sixers, who led by five before outscoring the Hawks, 34-19 in the third period.

Trae Young led Atlanta with 28 points, John Collins had 23 and Bogdan Bogdanovic 19.

Meanwhile, the Suns enjoy a 3-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series following a 116-102 win over the Nuggets. 

Devin Booker provided 28 points and teamed with Chris Paul to lead a steady offensive onslaught that countered Nikola Jokic's (nih-KOH'-lah YOH'-kihch-ehz) triple-double of 32 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. Paul had 27 points, eight assists and three steals for the Suns, who pulled away after halftime and earned their sixth straight win.

All five Phoenix starters scored in double figures as the Suns pulled within one victory of their first berth in the conference finals since 2010.

TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Raptors have announced that Pascal Siakam (see-A'-kam) has undergone shoulder surgery and has an expected recovery time of about five months.

The forward suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder during a game against Memphis on May 8. two days after he tied a career best by scoring 44 points against Washington. The 2020 NBA All-Star missed Toronto's final four games and led the Raptors in scoring this season, averaging 21.4 points. 

The surgery could force Siakam to miss the start of next season.

UNDATED (AP) — Two of the National League's best pitchers had to leave their starts early last night due to injuries.

Jacob deGrom was pulled from another fantastic start after six innings of the Mets' 3-2 win over the Padres. DeGrom allowed just one hit and faced the minimum number of batters before leaving with right flexor tendinitis. He also hit a two-run single and lowered his major league-best ERA to 0.56, the best ever after 10 starts.

DeGrom left after 80 pitches and extending his scoreless streak to 22 innings. He says he's not concerned about his elbow issue.

DeGrom lasted longer than Max Scherzer, who was able to throw just 12 pitches in Washington's 1-0 loss to the Giants. Scherzer came out of the game with a groin injury that he says is very mild.
