The Marketing Director’s primary focuses are census development in the licensed and non-licensed congregate-living buildings, developing and maintaining positive relationships with referral sources, and tracking marketing efforts in the customer relationship management (CRM) software. Visit and contact potential referral sources including, but not limited to, hospitals, clinics, doctor offices, home health organizations, funeral homes, private homes, senior centers, financial management companies, referral sources and leads, and any other relevant parties and entities to promote The Wesley.

Provide professional and friendly customer service when meeting with prospective residents and others.

Maintain expertise regarding The Wesley’s services and remain current with upcoming activities and events that are relevant to census development.

Document information about prospective residents or relay information to the COO, Director of Nursing (DON), and/or Assisted Living Health Care Director (ALHD) for follow-up when appropriate.

Conduct onsite tours for prospective residents, their families, or other interested parties in coordination with the VPPR.

Provide management of tasks and supervision of the Marketing Assistant, if any.

Assist the VPPR with campus events, innovation, and other marketing-related activities.

Assist the VPPR with collateral development, marketing projects, and media advertising.

Assist with posting information and advertising on The Wesley website, Facebook, and other social media accounts.

Join civic and other organizations in coordination with the COO and VPPR.

Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and other information per policy.

Complete other duties, as assigned by the COO, which are reasonably within the scope of this position.

Associate degree or above in communications, marketing, or related field.

Experience in a senior living organization (prefer Continuing Care Retirement Community).

Knowledge, skills and experience in sales and marketing.

Highly proficient with Microsoft Office programs.

Experience using various industry-related software platforms including CRM and EMR.

Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and maintain a record acceptable to the insurance company to operate The Wesley’s vehicles.

Hutch High's Smith, Posch earn awards at Senior Awards Ceremony

When students are involved in education-based activities, they are better! We all know the connection with peers, with coaches and sponsors, and to the community support their academic success as well as their physical health and mental wellness. However, can some students take it too far and be doing too much? 

Earlier in April, I listened intently to the doctors, athletic trainers, school nurses and school leaders serving on the KSHSAA Sports Medicine Academy as they talked about a significant concern becoming more prevalent in their work with students. That topic is burnout. While the discussion was focused on supporting the many students who experience overuse injury, it also included students who have lost the love of the game. It was reported:

Over 50% of high school athletes report training related injuries which contribute to mental and physical exhaustion which can lead to burnout.

Teenagers who overtrain are also at a higher risk of eating disorders and sleep problems.

36% of high school student-athletes report feeling burned out because they feel pressure to succeed from their coaches and parents.

30-40% of young athletes experience burnout at some point in their sports careers and 70% of kids drop out of organized sports by age 13.

Overtraining and burnout are linked to higher rates of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

While I support the notion of learning to work hard to achieve at the highest level, many of our students are exhausted. We need to teach our students to work smarter, not necessarily more! As we prepare for summer, which has been transformed from an opportunity for students and coaches to recharge and pursue options not possible during the school year, into a fight for more training and more competition. Is it too much?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends students not spend more than 5 days a week playing or practicing one sport and 2-3 months per year of no organized sports. The KSHSAA SMAC suggested a general rule of thumb for a student is for the maximum hours of training, practice and competition per week to not exceed the age of the student or 16 hours per week (whichever is less).

As you head to summer, I encourage you to lead the discussion on how less can be more.  Thank you for supporting the healthy development of students.

OPINION: Less is more during summer workouts for student-athletes

The City of Hutchinson has provided some updates on projects that are in process. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Public Works Director Cecil Weible tells us that the 30 Avenue reconstruction project is in the pavement restoration phase. &nbsp;They have had some weather-related delays due to recent rainfall. &nbsp;‘&nbsp;

Procon Construction has completed the installation of a new curb and gutter and has poured the east bound lane of 30 Avenue. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Left remaining is the pouring of the westbound lane and completion of new pavement at the 30 Avenue and Adams Street Interview. &nbsp;

The project is trending for a late May completion with the roadway opening to traffic. &nbsp;

Weible tells us that the project is trending on schedule for Kansas Concrete’s goal of opening in late fall of this year. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Their subcontractor continues to make process on pavement removal and excavation of the existing trumpet ramp at Avenue A. The Avenue A bridge has been demolished, and removal of the debris is ongoing. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Next up is removal of the Avenue A pavement between Adams Street and Madison Street and continued excavation of Woodie Seat southward to Avenue B. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The State Fair Detention Basin was announced in 2024. &nbsp;It is set to be built behind the Water Treatment Center on the southwest corner of 23 Avenue and Severance Street. &nbsp;

Weible tells us that the design of the water basin is scheduled to be completed this month with an anticipated presentation to the City Council in June or July.&nbsp;

City provides update on ongoing projects

Job description: Leading the 1.4 billion-strong Catholic Church.

There are&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/next-pope-contenders-list-101d68d61be2401a85310e34b45371a9">no official candidates</a>&nbsp;for the papacy, but some cardinals are considered “papabile,” or possessing the characteristics necessary to become pope. After St. John Paul II broke the centurieslong Italian hold on the papacy in 1978, the field of contenders has broadened considerably.

When the cardinals&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/conclave-definition-what-happens-92a4da4116a62ccc165a63d1ae3c30dc">enter the Sistine Chapel on May 7</a>&nbsp;to choose a successor to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/vatican-pope-francis-dead-01ca7d73c3c48d25fd1504ba076e2e2a">Pope Francis</a>, the first pontiff from Latin America, they will be looking above all for a holy man who can guide the Catholic Church. Beyond that, they will weigh his administrative and pastoral experience and consider what the church needs today.

Here is a selection of possible contenders, in no particular order. The list will be updated as cardinals continue their closed-door, preconclave discussions.

Position: Vatican secretary of state under Francis

The 70-year-old veteran diplomat was Francis' secretary of state, essentially the Holy See's prime minister.

Though associated closely with Francis' pontificate, Parolin is much more demure in personality and diplomatic in his approach to leading than the Argentine Jesuit he served and he knows where the Catholic Church might need a course correction.

Parolin oversaw the Holy See’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/china-vatican-agreement-b9cd669a0a91ad3da8fc70fe41611bdb">controversial deal with China</a>&nbsp;over bishop nominations and was involved -- but not charged -- in the Vatican’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/london-europe-voting-rights-business-religion-4abac4eee3bfd02205349c353906fcbf">botched investment</a>&nbsp;in a London real estate venture that led to a 2021 trial of another cardinal and nine others. A former ambassador to Venezuela, Parolin knows the Latin American church well and played a key role in the 2014 U.S.-Cuba detente, which the Vatican helped facilitate.

If he were elected, he would return an Italian to the papacy after three successive outsiders: St. John Paul II (Poland), Pope Benedict XVI (Germany) and Francis (Argentina).

But Parolin has very little pastoral experience: He entered the seminary at age 14, four years after his father was killed in a car accident. After his 1980 ordination, he spent two years as a parish priest near his hometown in northern Italy, but then went to Rome to study and entered the Vatican diplomatic service, where he has remained ever since. He has served at Vatican embassies in Nigeria, Mexico and Venezuela.

He is widely respected for his&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/vatican-pope-ukraine-white-flag-af55b9a6e3fe1e1bff5f3a07104e52cb">diplomatic finesse</a>&nbsp;on some of the thorniest dossiers facing the Catholic Church. He has long been involved in the China file, and he played a hands-on role in the Holy See’s diplomatic rapprochement with Vietnam that resulted in an agreement to establish a resident Vatican representative in the country.

Parolin was also the Vatican’s point-person in its frustrated efforts to end the wars in Ukraine and the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/vatican-pope-israel-palestinians-gaza-d837110b8201d7dc6494216ddb812b3f">Middle East</a>. He has tried to make the church’s voice heard as the Trump administration began working to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.

“Let’s hope we can arrive at a peace that, in order to be solid, lasting, must be a just peace, must involve all the actors who are at stake and take into account the principles of international law and the UN declarations,” he said.

Parolin might find the geopolitical reality ushered in by the Trump administration somewhat unreceptive to the Holy See's&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-putin-pope-francis-diplomacy-europe-83a98bf40d2c51ba8a1de88e847c6e70">soft power</a>.

Position: Pro-Prefect, Dicastery for Evangelization under Francis

Experience: Former archbishop of Manila, Philippines

Tagle, 67, is on many bookmakers’ lists to be the first Asian pope, a choice that would acknowledge a part of the world where the church is growing.

Francis brought the popular&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/general-news-7c1fff5eabfe9b8eb5c3d48769580f02">archbishop of Manila</a>&nbsp;to Rome to head the Vatican’s missionary evangelization office, which serves the needs of the Catholic Church in much of Asia and Africa. His role took on greater weight when Francis reformed the Vatican bureaucracy. Tagle often cites his Chinese heritage — his maternal grandmother was part of a Chinese family that moved to the Philippines.

Though he has pastoral, Vatican and management experience — he headed the Vatican’s Caritas Internationalis federation of charity groups before coming to Rome permanently — Tagle would be on the young side to be elected pope, with cardinals perhaps preferring an older candidate whose papacy would be more limited.

Tagle is known as a good communicator and teacher — key attributes for a pope.

“The pope will have to do a lot of teaching, we’ll have to face the cameras all the time so if there will be a communicator pope, that’s very desirable,” said Leo Ocampo, a theology professor at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

That said, Tagle’s tenure at Caritas was not without controversy and some have questioned his management skills.

In 2022&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-religion-philanthropy-dd48a5818e58a1c416b27b57925b895a">,</a>&nbsp;Francis&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-religion-philanthropy-dd48a5818e58a1c416b27b57925b895a">ousted the Caritas management</a>, including demoting Tagle. The Holy See said an outside investigation had found “real deficiencies” in management that had affected staff morale at the Caritas secretariat in Rome.

Experience: President of the bishops conferences of Africa and Madagascar

The 65-year-old Ambongo is one of Africa's most outspoken Catholic leaders, heading the archdiocese that has the largest number of Catholics on the continent that&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-religion-egypt-africa-middle-east-52264c1e130b3fe5b352a1a8c93dbff6">seen as the future of the church</a>.

He has been archbishop of Congo's capital since 2018 and a cardinal since in 2019. Francis also appointed him to a group of advisers that was helping reorganize the Vatican bureaucracy.

In Congo and across Africa, Ambongo has been deeply committed to the Catholic orthodoxy and is seen as conservative.

The rebuke crystalized both the African church's line on LGBTQ+ outreach and Ambongo's stature within the African hierarchy.

He has received praise from some in Congo for promoting interfaith tolerance, especially on a continent where religious divisions between Christians and Muslims are common.

“He is for the openness of the church to different cultures,” said Monsignor Donatien Nshole, secretary-general of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo, who has long worked with Ambongo.

An outspoken government critic, the cardinal is also known for his unwavering advocacy for social justice.

In a country with high poverty and hunger levels despite being rich in minerals, and where fighting by rebel groups has killed thousands and displaced millions in one of the world’s biggest humanitarian crises, he frequently criticizes both government corruption and inaction, as well as the exploitation of the country’s natural resources by foreign powers.

“Congo is the plate from which everyone eats, except for our people,” he said last year during a speech at the Pontifical Antonianum University.

Zuppi was part of Sant’Egidio’s team that helped negotiate the end of Mozambique’s civil war in the 1990s and was named Francis’&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/vatican-ukraine-pope-0e9ee7e7c9b26b4fa3da2dbebf7b5dfc">peace envoy</a>&nbsp;for Russia’s war in Ukraine.

He traveled to Kyiv and Moscow after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to the Holy See for help in winning the release of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-vatican-pope-children-reunification-24c3931fd9fe3234ddb8e3fdf949f02f">19,000 Ukrainian children taken from their families</a>&nbsp;and brought to Russia during the war. The mission also took him to China and the United States.

After making him a cardinal, Francis made clear he wanted him in charge of Italy’s bishops, a sign of his admiration for the prelate who, like Francis, is known as a “street priest” — someone who prioritizes ministering to poor and homeless people and refugees.

Zuppi would be a candidate in Francis’ tradition of ministering to those on the margins, although his relative youth would count against him for cardinals seeking a short papacy.

In a sign of his progressive leanings, Zuppi wrote the introduction to the Italian edition of “Building a Bridge,” by the Rev. James Martin, an American Jesuit, about the church’s need to improve its outreach to the LGBTQ+ community.

Zuppi wrote that building bridges with the community was a “difficult process, still unfolding.'' He recognized that “doing nothing, on the other hand, risks causing a great deal of suffering, makes people feel lonely, and often leads to the adoption of positions that are both contrasting and extreme.”

Zuppi's family also has strong institutional ties: His father worked for the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, and his mother was the niece of Cardinal Carlo Confalonieri, dean of the College of Cardinals in the 1960s and 1970s.

Known by his peers as a serious theologian, scholar and educator, Erdő, 72, is a leading contender&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-hungary-visit-orban-ukraine-5d35e834ebac80ec14840fa90071af95">among conservatives</a>. He has served as the archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest since 2002 and was made a cardinal by John Paul the following year. He has participated in two conclaves, in 2005 and 2013, for the selection of Benedict and Francis.

Holding doctorates in theology and canon law, Erdő, speaks six languages, is a proponent of doctrinal orthodoxy, and champions the church’s positions on issues like abortion and same-sex marriage.

Erdő opposes same-sex unions, and has also resisted suggestions that Catholics who remarry after divorce be able to receive communion. He stated in 2015 that divorced Catholics should only be permitted communion if they remain sexually abstinent in their new marriage.

An advocate for traditional family structures, he helped organize Francis’ 2014 and 2015 Vatican meetings on the family.

From 2006 to 2016, Erdő served as president of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences, helping to foster collaboration among Catholic bishops across Europe and to address contemporary issues facing the church on the continent.

While careful to avoid taking part in Hungary’s often tumultuous political life, Erdő has maintained a close relationship with the country’s rightist populist government, which provides generous subsidies to Christian churches.

He has been reluctant to take positions on several of the government’s policies that divided society in Hungary such as public campaigns that villainized migrants and refugees and laws that eroded the rights of LGBTQ+ communities.

When hundreds of thousands of asylum-seekers entered Europe in 2015 fleeing war and deprivation in the Middle East and Africa, Erdő emphasized that the church had a Christian duty to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need, but stopped short of the full-throated advocacy for migrants that was one of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-migrant-advocate-82193bcef21f096ce5f9754bba8f0cbb">Francis’ top priorities</a>.

Francis brought Prevost, 69, to the Vatican in 2023 to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-canada-vatican-city-chicago-peru-a2df40ea86c77a2c1442de8a5615b198">serve as the powerful head</a>&nbsp;of the office that vets bishop nominations from around the world, one of the most important jobs in the Catholic Church. As a result, Prevost has a prominence going into the conclave that few other cardinals have.

One strike against him, however, is that he’s American, and there has long been a taboo against a U.S. pope, given the geopolitical power already wielded by the United States in the secular sphere. But Prevost, a Chicago native, could be a first because he’s also a Peruvian citizen and lived for years in Peru, first as a missionary and then as an archbishop.

Prevost was also twice elected prior general, or top leader, of the Augustinian religious order, the 13th century order founded by St. Augustine. Francis clearly had an eye on him for years, moving him from the Augustinian leadership back to Peru in 2014 to serve as the administrator and later archbishop of Chiclayo.

He remained in that position, acquiring Peruvian citizenship in 2015, until Francis brought him to Rome in 2023 to assume the presidency of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. In that job he would have kept in regular contact with the Catholic hierarchy in the part of the world that counts still counts the most Catholics.

Ever since he arrived in Rome, Prevost has kept a low public profile, but he is well known to the men who count.

Significantly, he presided over one of the most revolutionary reforms Francis made, when he added&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-francis-religion-29e916926583aaa49bd385e874b70c84">three women to the voting bloc</a>&nbsp;that decides which bishop nominations to forward to the pope. In early 2025, Francis again showed his esteem by appointing Prevost to the most senior rank of cardinals, suggesting he would at least be Francis’ choice in an any future conclave.

Prevost’s comparative youth could count against him if his brother cardinals don’t want to commit to a pope who might reign for another two decades.

The Rev. Fidel Purisaca Vigil, the communications director for Prevost’s old diocese in Chiclayo, remembers the cardinal rising each day and having breakfast with his fellow priests after saying his prayers.

“No matter how many problems he has, he maintains good humor and joy,” Purisaca said in an email.

<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/kristi-noem">Kristi Noem</a>&nbsp;told a Congressional panel that 81% of travelers already have IDs that comply with the REAL ID requirements. She said security checkpoints will also be accepting passports and tribal identification when the deadline hits Wednesday.

Those who still lack an identification that complies with the REAL ID law “may be diverted to a different line, have an extra step,” Noem said.

“But people will be allowed to fly,” she said. “We will make sure it’s as seamless as possible.”

REAL ID is a federally compliant state-issued license or identification card that Homeland Security says is a more secure form of identification. It was a recommendation by the 9/11 Commission and signed into law in 2005.

The commission recommended the government set security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs. It was supposed to be rolled out in 2008 but implementation has been repeatedly delayed.

Starting May 7, your license or identification card will need to be REAL ID-compliant to fly domestically in the U.S.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there will be another delay in the deadline this time. So, if you're confused about how to get a REAL ID, why you even need one in the first place, and what happens if you don't have one by May 7, here are some things to know:

It's a federally compliant state-issued license or identification card that the DHS says is a more secure form of identification. Besides needing a REAL ID to fly domestically, you will also need one to access certain federal buildings and facilities.

When the REAL ID Act was signed into law in 2005, it enacted a recommendation from the 9/11 Commission that the government set security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and IDs.

"REAL ID is a coordinated effort by the federal government to improve the reliability and accuracy of driver's licenses and identification cards," John Essig, the Transportation Security Administration's Security Director for airports in the New York City region said in a press release on April 3. "The improvements are intended to inhibit terrorists' ability to evade detection by using fraudulent identification."

The REAL ID Act was supposed to begin rolling out in 2008, "but has faced repeated delays due to state implementation challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic," said Nina Ruggiero, senior editorial director for Travel + Leisure. "The combination of varying state processes and shifting deadlines has added to the overall confusion around REAL IDs and likely led some travelers to take the deadlines less seriously."

How do I know if I already have a REAL ID?

If you've gotten a new ID in the last few years, it could already be REAL ID-compliant.

"I also hear from travelers who are confused as to whether or not they already have a REAL ID," Ruggiero said. "Some people who have recently renewed their license may already have a compliant ID and not know it," so you may want to double-check yours before starting the process.

A REAL ID-compliant driver's license has a symbol ( in most states, a star ) in the top corner of the card.

If you live in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont or Washington, it's possible you could have an "enhanced" ID card instead, which permits you to cross land and sea borders into Mexico and Canada from the U.S. It does not, however, allow you to fly into either of those countries.

Enhanced IDs will have an American flag icon, as well as the word "enhanced" at the top of the card.

If I don't have a REAL ID, how do I get one?

The requirements vary by state, so you will need to visit the website of your state's driver's licensing agency to find out the specific steps, including whether you'll need to make an appointment at a DMV and what documentation you'll need when you get there.

What happens on May 7? What if I don't have a REAL ID by then?

If you don't have a REAL ID by the deadline and you're planning to board a domestic flight, you will need to bring your passport or another TSA-approved form of identification when you travel.

Otherwise, you could face "delays, additional screening and the possibility of not being permitted into the security checkpoint," warns TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein.

The deadline has already been pushed back so many times. Could it be delayed again?

In mid-April, a group of state senators from Kentucky asked the agency to delay implementing the new requirements yet again. They said the state has limited appointments available to people seeking the new cards and that there has been a rush to meet the May 7 deadline.

However, TSA spokesperson Dan Velez told the AP that the agency does not intend to delay the REAL ID deadline again.

As of late April, 81% of travelers at TSA checkpoints were presenting acceptable identification, including a state-issued REAL ID, according to DHS.

BUHLER, Kan. - A parent driven petition drive has been started in the Buhler School District. &nbsp;According to a Facebook post, two of the districts band directors are leaving at the end of the year, and only one of those positions will be replaced.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The petition goes on to say, “The Buhler Band program is known for its tradition of excellence—not just in performance, but in building leadership, discipline, and community among students. Reducing staff undermines that legacy and sends a message that our students’ experiences in the arts are not a priority.” &nbsp;

The parents want the district administration and board to continue to keep the Buhler Band&nbsp;program fully staffed to, “preserve the quality and opportunities it offers”. &nbsp;

Cindy Couchman, the Superintendent of Schools said that she called a meeting with the band parents to seek input from them on the possibility of decreasing band staff from four instructors to three due to declining enrollment.&nbsp;

Couchman went on to say that there are no band program changes being made.&nbsp;

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the cafeteria at Buhler High School.&nbsp;

Buhler Band parents start petition drive to save staffing

Art lovers, shoppers, and families alike will have plenty to celebrate this weekend as the Hutchinson Art Center prepares for its annual Art Fair, set for Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunflower South Building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.

The event, held the day before Mother’s Day, promises more than 50 artist booths, live music, kids’ activities, and even a raffle featuring original works by acclaimed local artists Jack Stout and Mary Welch.

“This is such a great opportunity for people to find unique gifts—whether it’s for a loved one or themselves,” said Barbara Withrow of the Hutchinson Art Center. “We’ve got pottery, mosaics, fiber art, metalwork, jewelry, and so much more. The range of prices makes it accessible to everyone.”

Withrow, a longtime organizer of the event, noted that all 50 artist spaces have already been filled, with a waiting list for additional vendors. “It’s wonderful to see this level of enthusiasm,” she said. “We even had to turn someone away this week because we were already at capacity.”

Joining Withrow is Emily Kohls, the new Executive Director of the Hutchinson Art Center, who is already embracing the local art community after stepping into her role earlier this spring.

“I remember attending this fair back when I was a student at Hutchinson Community College,” said Kohls. “It’s amazing to now be a part of organizing such a meaningful event for the community.”

The art fair, which was once held outdoors near Main Street, moved to the fairgrounds years ago to provide a more weatherproof and accessible venue for artists and attendees. The Sunflower South Building offers ample parking and easy load-in for artists, along with space for musical performances and seating.

Three musical groups are scheduled to perform throughout the day, and children can enjoy free goodie bags—including a bit of Play-Doh, which, organizers noted, has become a hit with both kids and parents. “It’s great to see parents playing right alongside their kids,” said Withrow.

This year’s fair also highlights a special art raffle, giving attendees a chance to win original works from well-known regional artists. Raffle tickets will be available at the entrance, and winners do not need to be present to claim their prize.

 </figure>“I remember attending this fair back when I was a student at Hutchinson Community College,” said Kohls. “It’s amazing to now be a part of organizing such a meaningful event for the community.”The art fair, which was once held outdoors near Main Street, moved to the fairgrounds years ago to provide a more weatherproof and accessible venue for artists and attendees. The Sunflower South Building offers ample parking and easy load-in for artists, along with space for musical performances and seating.Three musical groups are scheduled to perform throughout the day, and children can enjoy free goodie bags—including a bit of Play-Doh, which, organizers noted, has become a hit with both kids and parents. “It’s great to see parents playing right alongside their kids,” said Withrow.This year’s fair also highlights a special art raffle, giving attendees a chance to win original works from well-known regional artists. Raffle tickets will be available at the entrance, and winners do not need to be present to claim their prize.<figure>

 </figure>Alongside the Art Fair, the Hutchinson Art Center continues to host multiple exhibitions, including Visible Voices: Art Beyond the Struggle, a mental health-themed showcase created in partnership with Milestone Clubhouse. The exhibit, which runs through May 16, includes artwork from local residents exploring mental illness and the therapeutic role of creativity.“The stories behind the pieces are just as powerful as the works themselves,” said Kohls. “It’s important to show how art can help build mental wellness.”Organizers hope the community will mark their calendars for Saturday’s event and take advantage of the diverse offerings. “Whether you’re looking for a last-minute Mother’s Day gift or just want to support local artists, this is the place to be,” said Withrow.The Hutchinson Art Fair is free to attend.
