Update: 6-year-old Kan. boy wounded in shooting

LAWRENCE β€” The 6-year-old boy injured in a shooting in Lawrence remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to police spokesperson Patrick Compton late Thursday afternoon.

Just after 9:30p.m. Wednesday, police responded to report of a medical emergency at a residence in the 700 Block of West 25th Street in Lawrence, according to police spokesperson Patrick Compton

First responders found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately began rendering aid. EMS transported him to a hospital, according to Compton.

Authorities continue the investigation of the incident  but police do not currently believe foul play was involved.
