GREAT BEND, Kan. — No. 21 Hutchinson (8-2, 2-2) raced out to a 10-point lead Saturday night before Barton (4-5, 1-2) went on an 8-0 run.
Hutchinson struggled from distance at 2 of 17 from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Barton came in shooting 28% from three, but hit 4 of its first 8 attempts. The Cougars also came in shooting 65% from the free throw line, but only missed four attempts to finish 82.6%.
Hutchinson held a three-point lead at halftime, but Barton outscored the Dragons 19-9 in the third quarter. Hutchinson trailed by as many as seven before pulling within one in the fourth.
Hutchinson could not get a late three to go and Barton iced the game at the line.

Mya Williams scored 21 and Mele Kailahi added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Brennan Kirchhoff led Barton with 12 points.
