HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Virginia's Lt. Governor is coming to the Kansas City area next month to speak, thanks to the Kansas Black Republican Council (KBRC), the Kansas Federation of Republican Women (KFRW), and the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Kansas (RNHA). Winsome Earl Sears will speak October 14th, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at Fiorella's Event Space in Overland Park, Kansas.

"We're really excited about the impact that Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earl Sears, her trailblazing career, is going to have in Kansas," said Michael Austin with the Kansas Black Republican Council. "We think that she's the embodiment of the American dream, and she can really serve as an inspiring figure to not only Kansans, but most certainly those in the 3rd Congressional District. So we're proud to have her come."

The hope in having the event is to energize Republicans for a tough race in Kansas 3rd District.

"When you talk to folks in the community, they want to participate," Austin said. "They want to support. They have traditional values, but they may not be, you know, your true diehard Republicans. We think that having Winsome Earl Sears can once again bring people back to believing in those traditional values and conservative ideals, and something that we think could be really inspiring for those who might feel disaffected with the current political environment."

Winsome Sears is the first woman of color and second woman to hold statewide office in Virginia.
