WICHITA, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs (18-4) cruised to an easy victory over Great Bend Bat Cats 8-2 on Tuesday night at Wichita State’s Eck Stadium.
Hutchinson opened up scoring in the second inning. Tanner Schrag singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Monarchs notched four runs in the eighth inning. Easton Rindt, Clayton Chadwick, and Anthony Mackenzie all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Jake Sharp got the win for Hutchinson. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings, striking out 6 and walking none. Noah Kelley and Cody Farmer entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Jaydon Saylor took the loss for Bat Cats. He allowed 6 hits and 4 runs over 5 innings pitched while striking out 4.
Hutch racked up 13 hits with Mackenzie, Chadwick, Dylan Nedved, and Austin Callahan all having multiple hits for the Monarchs. Mackenzie went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hutchinson Monarchs in hits.
Hutchinson starts a four game series with the Mulvane Patriots in Mulvane tomorrow night and Thursday night. Then they return home to wrap up the series with the Patriots on Friday and Saturday night.
