NEWTON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs scored three runs in the top of the first inning and tacked on three more in the fifth to provide enough runs to defeat the Newton Rebels 8-6 in Newton on Monday night.

Blake Bradford continued to hit the ball well with three RBI's on the night and Cole Toureau pitched seven innings only giving up two hits to get the win.

Things got a little shaky in the eighth when the Rebels rallied for five runs but Jace Minor came on in relief for Camden Cornelius to shut the door on the Rebels.

Hutchinson will be on the road again on Tuesday night in Augusta taking on the Kansas Cannons with first pitch scheduled for 7pm.

The Monarchs will return home on Wednesday at Hobart-Detter field versus the Newton Rebels.
