(KJCCC) January 24, 2022 – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) has suspended the conference wrestling duals schedule for 2022.

“With the current state of the pandemic, the KJCCC feels that safety of our student athletes at wrestling colleges needs to be a top priority,” said KJCCC commissioner Carl Heinrich.

Athletic directors and wrestling coaches at the eight KJCCC wrestling colleges met with conference officials via Zoom call last week to discuss the safety issue. Heinrich commented following the meeting.

“To afford our student athletes with the best and safest opportunity to wrestle in the postseason, we have decided to pause the current dual and conference schedule,” said Heinrich.  “We will resume competition in Colby (KS) at the NJCAA District Championships.”

The NJCAA District Championships are scheduled for the Colby Event Center on February 12.

The 2022 NJCAA Wrestling Championships are set for the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs IA on March 4-5.
