Update: 1 dead, 2 hospitalized after head-on Kan. crash

JACKSON COUNTY— One person died in an accident just before 2a.m. Thursday in Jackson County. 

 The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Ford Fiesta driven by Mohammad Mohsin S. Alnosif, 24, Omaha, was northbound on U.S. 75.

The Ford traveled left of center into the southbound lane and struck a 2021 Kenworth semi driven by William H. Barfield, Kileen, TX., head-on.

Alnosif was ejected approximately 20 yards out of the vehicle into the east ditch and pronounced dead at the scene. 

EMS transported Barfield and a passenger Randy J. Solomon, 66, Albuquerque, NM., to the Jackson Co. Hospital. 

Alnosif was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.

JACKSON COUNTY— One person died in an accident early Thursday in Jackson County. 

A passenger vehicle was northbound at 278th Road on U.S. 75. It crossed the center line and struck a southbound semi, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The driver and only occupant of the car was ejected and  pronounced deceased on scene.

EMS transported two occupants of the semi to area hospitals for evaluation.

Authorities closed U.S. Highway 75 between 286th and 254th roads. The accident was reported at 1:40 a.m., according to Morse.
