HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A dandy between 2019 NJCAA Division I champion Vincennes and Holmes went down to the wire before the 18 seeded Holmes Bulldogs were the beneficiary of a late Trailblazers turnover and Kaleb Higgins hit four clutch free throws down the stretch to give Holmes a 71-66 win at the Hutchinson Sports Arena Monday afternoon.
The four last minute makes were all the free throws Higgins shot all day. He scored nine points. The Bulldogs were paced by Brandon Witherspoon's 22 points. Ahmad Anthony added 12.
Vincennes was led by Randy Tucker's 14 points, Brevin Jefferson had 11, Nigel Martin and DJ Brewton had 10 each.
Vincennes ends its season at 17-7. Holmes goes on to play NOC-Tonkawa at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
