HUTHCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs scored in every inning Monday night to win their home opener vs the Wichita Vipers 15-3 in a 7 inning non-league game at Hobart-Detter field in Hutchinson.
The Monarchs got big innings in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings scoring 12 of their 15 runs in those 3 innings.
Lefty Ryan Schooley got the win for the Monarchs going 3 innings and only giving up 1 hit striking out 2 with 3 runners getting on due to 3 base on balls pitched. Spencer Maley to the loss for the Vipers.
Schooley out of Iowa City, Iowa has signed to pitch for Wichita State this next fall.
The middle part of the line-up was big for the Monarchs as third baseman Austin Callahan was3 for 5 with 4 RBI's. Catcher Austin Hamm was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's on the night.
The Viper's were held to only 4 hits over the 7 innings played with 2nd baseman Trent Canaan picking up 2 of those hits.
