HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Building Official Izzy Rivera wants to remind everyone that as residents clean up and repair damage from last night’s storm, the city is here to help make sure it’s done right.

“After damaging weather like we had, there is often in influx of contractors from out of town looking for work in the wake of the storm,” Rivera said. “Before you hire someone to do the work on your home or business, just give us a call so we can help make sure they are licensed so that everything is done correctly and that you are not left with additional work or delays that might have been avoided.”

“By making sure all the correct permits are issued and all the work is up to code, you can save yourself a headache in the long run. “We don’t want to see anyone get taken advantage of,” Rivera said.

The City also announced that from now to the end of the month, permit fees will be waived for electrical work needed to reactivate service due to damage from last night’s storm.
