JACAM CATALYST
JACAM Catalyst, a leading manufacturer and full-service provider of oilfield chemicals, announces several new developments underway at the Sterling, KS facility. A newly renovated office space was designed to improve efficiency in design and process engineering. A new 6,900-square-foot fabrication facility was also constructed to play a key role in supporting facility expansion and in-house project execution. The facility recently completed a new imidazoline process reactor that has more than doubled the company’s current imidazoline capacity, as well as began construction on a new chemical reaction that will create a stronger foundation with less dependency on market volatility by becoming self-reliant on reaction intermediates.
“We are excited to see the company’s growth over the past few years, and to accommodate the current company outlook we have worked to put in place a strong infrastructure,” said TJ Kiser, Sterling Plant Manager. “This new operation is custom designed to utilize the strengths we have at our facility. The improvements will guarantee a much more efficient facility, both economically and strategically.”
JACAM Catalyst has expanded its office space to create a centralized hub for chemical reaction capabilities on site. Adjacent to the new engineering offices, a recently completed fabrication facility will support the growth of internal fabrication for both new and existing chemical operations. The close proximity of engineering and fabrication teams enables direct collaboration, reducing design and fabrication costs by 50% and project timelines by 65% compared with most chemical manufacturing companies. In addition, JACAM Catalyst has commissioned a new imidazoline process reactor, which has already been deployed to meet high industry demand by producing quality imidazoline at scale.
JACAM Catalyst is 80% complete on the build-out of a chemical reaction system that will allow the facility to manufacture a chemical reaction intermediate in large quantities. The reactor, with a capacity of more than 6,000 gallons, is more than three times the size of the average chemical reactor at the facility. It is expected to generate significant cost savings on high-demand products at both the Sterling and Gardendale facilities. The Chief Engineer overseeing the project estimates to have the reactor operational by the end of the year. To compliment the completed reactor, the facility has finished converting a large, previously unused, space to raw material storage. This upgrade improves raw material proximity to their manufacturing operations, streamlining material flow and increasing overall process efficiency.
“At the facility we are striving to have the highest quality chemical at the most competitive prices possible,” said Kiser. “With these changes we are achieving both, while also adapting to changes in the industry with a speed that our competitors cannot match.”
