Triton advances at NJCAA

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Triton College Trojans took a lead at the 16:17 mark of the first half on a three by Cobie Montgomery and never let it go, as they dominated the Caldwell Tech Cobras 88-62 in the first round of the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena Tuesday.

Triton was paced by 18 points from Patrick Suemnick, Brandon Muntu had 14 and Cam Denison had 13 for the Trojans, who improve to 28-5.

Caldwell Tech was led by Caleb Mauldin with 23 points, while Toyaz Solomon added 17. The Cobras finish their season at 25-8.

Triton will play Indian River State Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Hutchinson.
