🏀 WBB: Blue Dragons put bow on season with national championship celebration

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team capped off its unbeaten and national championship season with a celebration on Tuesday at the Sports Arena. 

Hundreds of attendees were able to hear speeches from freshman Kiki Smith, freshman Hailey Jackson, head coach John Ontjes, Sports Information Director Steve Carpenter, HutchCC President Dr. Carter File, city of Hutchinson interim City Manager Mary Grace Clements, and Voice of the Blue Dragons, Sean Boston. HutchCC Public Address voice and My 93-1 personality Daren Dunn announced the team, as well. 

The HutchCC athletic department also put together several highlight videos to show off the accomplishments throughout the entire season, plus a special presentation of highlights from the national championship run in Casper, Wyoming.

The Blue Dragons defeated Northwest Florida State, 88-80 on Monday, April 1 to claim the first title in program history.
