The Jayhawk West champion Hutchinson Community College baseball team will play the Highland Scotties in the opening game of the 2021 Region VI Hutchinson sub-regional tournament on Friday at Hobart-Detter Field.
Pairings for the Hutchinson, Liberal, Arkansas City and Overland Park sub-regionals were announced on Monday by the Region VI baseball committee. Assigned to the Hutchinson sub-regional are East eighth place Highland, East fourth-place Allen and West fifth-place Colby.
The Blue Dragons (35-15) and Highland (9-32) open the sub-regional at Noon Friday. Allen (31-17) and Colby (26-23) will play in the second opening-round game.
The Hutchinson Community College Athletic Department announced that admission will be charged this weekend at Hobart-Detter Field. Admission will be $10 per person per day with kids age 5 and under admitted free.
All games from the Hutchinson sub-regional will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
The four sub-regional winners move into the Region VI Super-Regional on May 22-24 at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina.
