Oswalt, Holt lead Dragons at Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. – Freshman Collin Oswalt and sophomore Andrew Holt both placed in the Top 20 and led the Hutchinson Community College men’s cross country team to a third-place finish on Saturday at the Missouri Southern Stampede.

The Blue Dragons were just a point from second place. Men’s team runner-up Baker scored 100 points and the Blue Dragons scored 101 points. Cowley College dominated the team race, winning with 30 points powers by six runners finishing in the Top 12 in the junior college/NAIA Division.

Running his first collegiate 8,000-meter race, Oswalt led the Blue Dragons with a fourth-place overall finish, his second Top 5 finish of the season. Oswalt had a time of 25:42.67.

Holt turned in a cross country PR at 8,000 meters. His time of 27:14.00 beat his old time set last season by .08 seconds. Holt was the second Blue Dragon to finish, crossing the line in 17th place.

Freshman Camilo Turin was the third Blue Dragon to finish, placing 23rd in 27:30.45.

Freshman Carsyn Turpin was 26th overall with a time of 27:35.78.

Sophomore Aaron Geissinger had a PR with a time of 28:14.13. He placed 41st overall.

Cowley’s Adrian Diaz-Lopez was the men’s individual champion with a time of 24:41.27.

The Blue Dragons will next compete at the Region VI Preview on Saturday, October 2 in Colby.
