HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 19-ranked HutchCC men’s basketball teams second half comeback attempt ended short in an 83-70 loss to No. 11 Cowley on Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons had just one lead in the game in the opening half by one point, and trailed by as many as 19 in the second half.
Hutchinson (10-2, 5-1 KJCCC) pulled within six with just over two minutes remaining, but couldn’t pull any closer, as Cowley (12-1, 7-0) ended the game on an 8-1 run.
The Blue Dragons shot just 32 percent from the floor, while the Tigers made 47 percent of their shots. Hutchinson won the rebound battle, 48-38.
Kam Thomas led four Blue Dragons in double figures with 14 points. Tino Simon collected a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. J.P. Ricks and Dre Weathers each had 11 points.
Corey Thomas led the Tigers with 21 points on 9-for-9 shooting.
