City of Sedgwick Police Department
At 10:41 a.m. Sedgwick Police Department conducted a welfare check on an improperly parked vehicle. Upon arrival Chief Hall identified the driver who was incapacitated behind the wheel. Chief Hall initiated contact with the driver and began investigation for DUI.
The driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed and a short pursuit ensued before the driver pulled into a residential driveway and ran into the home. Officers cordoned off the residence while they sought a warrant to make entry and arrest the offender.
At approximately 13:02 hours, officers made entry and took the offender into custody. A search of the suspect vehicle yielded suspected illicit drugs, paraphernalia, and a handgun. The offender was transported to the Harvey County Detention Center and booked on charges of Possession of Illicit Drugs with intent to distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Flee and Elude, Reckless Driving, Obstruction of Official Duty, and DUI.
