HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Democratic Rep. Jason Probst is asking for the public's assistance in knowing the best way forward after the November election, where not only did he lose his race in the 102nd District, but results in Kansas and nationally gave more political influence generally to Republicans.

"I feel like it's hard sometimes in state government and in political campaigns to get reliable or good information out to the public," Probst said. "I think we try it a lot of different ways, but I think people get it in so many different ways now that sometimes the information is fractured or segmented. One thing I'm trying to figure out is how people get that information, and the other thing I'm trying to do is figure out what information is valuable to them and what would help them be more engaged in local government."

Probst has written the questions for a survey that he hopes a lot of Kansans will respond to.

"It's probably going to be less than five minutes to fill out," Probst said.  "I actually didn't count the questions either, but I think it's about 20 questions or so."

If you are engaged with state government, these questions will be simple to answer. If not, he wants to know why not.

"What I'm trying to do is get this out to a broad cross-section of people in a lot of different areas of life to make sure that we're getting a pretty good representative sample of what's out there and what people want and what to expect and what kind of value they place on that, too," Probst said.
