NEWTON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarch made it interesting in the late innings but still got the win over the Newton Rebels 6-4 Wednesday night at Centennial Park in Newton. The Monarchs are now 3-0 to start the season.
Dylan Nedved provided the fireworks with 3 RBI's for the night that provided Preston Snavely with his first win of the summer. Snavely is one of the many Wichita State products that is spending the summer in Hutch and playing for the Monarchs. Bryson Lucas came in and got the save and he faced the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 9th put got the pop up for the out that the Monarchs needed.
Tanner Schrag continued to swing a hot bat going 2 for 3 with an RBI.
The Monarchs will have Thursday off to get ready for the home opener on Friday vs the Rebels to close out the 4 game series with Newton. Eagle Sports will broadcast Friday's game on HutchPost.com.
