HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of the things school students look forward to is getting away from class for a day and taking in the Kansas State Fair. Of course, that didn’t happen this year, so Plum Creek Elementary School brought the fair to the students.
Some of the activities included carving butter sculptures and decorating pumpkins to resemble famous Kansans. The fifth grade class researched the history of the fair — focusing on the different eras, people associated with the fair and fair buildings.
Throughout the entire process, students covered writing, research, reading, math, science and engineering standards.
