GOODLAND, Kan. — No. 19 Hutchinson (20-6, 14-6) escaped Goodland with its second straight win Monday night after a three-game slide.

The Dragons built a 12-point halftime lead, but found themselves up only one with 3.9 seconds left.

A well-designed inbound helped Hutchinson run out the clock. One problem: there was a miscommunication between the officials and the clock operator.

Because the clock didn't run properly, three-tenths of a second were taken off the clock since Hutchinson legally touched the ball in its frontcourt after a long heave from the opposite baseline.

With 3.6 seconds left, Hutchinson was forced to inbound again, this time under its own goal.

Kobe Campbell took the inbound and was immediately fouled.

He hit both free throws to put the Dragons up three.

Northwest Tech (7-19, 4-16) got one last chance to tie with a halfcourt shot that drew back iron, but missed.

FINAL: Hutchinson 92 NWT 89

Kaimen Lennox made 5 of 7 threes and finished with 24 points.

Nate Goodlow added 17.

Off the bench, Campbell added 20 and Cecil Lee had 14.

The Dragons made 14 three-pointers (45.2%).

Hantz Louis-Jeune scored 27 for the Mavs. Timothy Moore added 22.

Hutchinson made just nine baskets in the second half on 39.1% shooting.

Hutchinson shot 51.8% for the game after draining 20 shots in the first half (60.6%).
