GRANT COHEN - NBC Media RelationsHUTCHINSON, Kan. - Thanks to a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Kansas City Club Baseball Association All-Stars defeated the Houston, TX Prospects at Hobart-Detter Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Chase Spoonemore led the All-Stars with three hits in five at-bats while four players collected multi-hit outings for the Prospects. Julio Escobar recorded five strikeouts in three innings pitched for the Prospects, with the All-Stars pitching staff combining for seven strikeouts.
Following a 1-1 tie after two innings, the Prospects came up with six runs in the top of the third inning to move ahead 7-1 in the top of the third inning. Responding with two runs in the next half-inning, the All-Stars came up with a five-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to take a one run lead.
The Prospects tied it up in the top of the sixth inning, but Dayvin Johnson came up with a triple and scored off an error in the following half-inning to help the All-Stars regain the lead. Two more runs allowed the Prospects to regain the lead, but a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and the bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed the All-Stars to retake the lead for good.
Kansas City will play the Hutchinson Monarchs in Hutchinson on Wednesday in the 6pm game.
