COLBY – Andrew Holt, Camilo Turin and Aaron Geissinger all posted career-low 8,000-meter times as the Hutchinson Community College men’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Region VI Preview on Saturday at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Colby.
The Blue Dragons and five other Region VI teams were getting an early look at the same course that will be the site of the 2021 Region VI Cross Country Championships, which will be hosted by Colby Community College on Saturday, 30.
Hutchinson had three others finish in the Top 20 in a fourth-place team showing. The Blue Dragons had 82 points, the third-highest placing Region VI team in the field. Colorado College won the team championship with 42 points. Northwest Tech was second with 49 points. Garden City had 77 points, then the Blue Dragons and Dodge City with 108 team points.
Freshman Collin Oswalt was the only Blue Dragon to finish in the Top 10, crossing the finish line 10th in a time of 26:02.62.
Holt posted his second-consecutive PR at 8,000 meters with a 16th-place showing in a time of 26:44.60.
Turin had his first Top 20 finish with a 19th-place showing in a season-best time of 27:06.71.
Geissinger also turned in a second-straight PR with a time of 28:05.80. He finished 31st overall.
Freshman Carsyn Turpin placed 33rd in a time of 28:09.68.
The Blue Dragons will run in back-to-back weeks for the only time this season. Hutchinson travels to the Fort Hays State Tiger open next Saturday in Victoria, Kansas.
