HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Commissioners approved the purchase of two fire trucks for Rural Fire District #4 during Tuesday's meeting. Originally, the county approved the purchase of a truck, but the fire district was unable to find one to fit its needs.
The two identical trucks are in South Carolina and cost $95,000 each. Chief Kent Branscom says the benefit of having two similar trucks will be ease of training for the volunteers and standard operating procedures for the two pumpers.
The purchase is approved pending an inspection of the trucks and legal language needed for the purchase. The commission also approved the purchase of 40 air pack bottles at a cost of $25,000.
Also Tuesday, the board signed an agreement with SCS Engineers to do engineering work for the foundation and pad portion of the new landfill support facilities that will be built on the portion of Mohawk Road that will soon be vacated.
The board announced there will not be a meeting next week because two commissioners will be absent.
