⛳ Kooiman leads Central Christian School to regional title

HALSTEAD, Kan. — The Hutchinson Central Christian boys golf team is state bound after the Cougars won the class 1A regional title at Wedgewood Golf Course on Monday.

The Cougars were led by freshman Cael Kooiman, who fired a 10-over round to claim the top individual spot. Kooiman was followed by his teammate, junior Nathan Reed, who finished 11-over. Junior Ryland Kooiman also cracked the top five with a 12-over round.

Central Christian dominated the field, finishing with a 343 total, while Goessel came in second at 383. The other Reno County school, Pretty Prairie finished in sixth place with a 490 score.

Pretty Prairie senior Brogan Stucky finished in 13th place with a 103 total.

The class 1A state tournament will be held at Hesston Golf Course on Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21.
