
SYRACUSE, Kan. — The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic Celtics boys golf team claimed the class 2A regional championship in far southwest Kansas on Monday.
The Celtics shot a 344 team total, eight strokes better than the host Syracuse Bulldogs. Garden Plain came in third place and Inman in fourth in the team standings.
Trinity Catholic was led by junior Lincoln Barnes who fired a 6-over par, 78, the top spot on the individual leaderboard. He edged out Charlie Keller of Syracuse by one stroke. Senior Eric Armour wasn't too far behind with a fifth place finish, shooting an 85.
Inman was led by Creighton Friesen with a 43-over par round.
The class 2A state tournament will be played Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.
