HUTCHINSON, Kan.—Hutchinson Salthawks fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 24-1 loss to Eisenhower on Friday night at Hobart-Detter field in Hutchinson's Carey Park.
The fireworks starting off on the top of the first as Eisenhower scored on a triple by Tyner Horn, a groundout by Cory Gleason, and an inside the park home run by Jason McCarty.
The Salthawks struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Eisenhower, giving up 24 runs in four innings to drop game one 24-1.
Eisenhower scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to put the game away thanks to singles by Carson Adams, Trey Omli, Horn, Owen Reynolds, and McCarty, an error on a ball put in play by Reynolds and Gleason, a triple by McCarty, and a double by Gleason.
Reynolds earned the victory on the mound for Eisenhower. The pitcher allowed no hits and only one run over four innings, while striking out nine.
Bobby Garland took the loss for Hutchinson. Garland went two and a third innings, allowing 12 runs on ten hits and striking out one.
Eisenhower scattered 25 hits in the game. Horn, Owen Rush, McCarty, Gleason, Mason Turney, Reynolds, and Adams each collected multiple hits for Eisenhower.
In game two of the twilight double-header, Hutch had a tough time generating runs as well, dropping the game to Eisenhower 10-3.
Eisenhower scored four runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach for the Salthawks.
Eisenhower hitting was led by Carson Adams, Noah Stevens, and Will Rogers, who each had RBIs in the inning.
The Tigers pitcher Tyner Horn earned the victory for Eisenhower. Horn only allowed one hit and one run over six innings, striking out 14 and walking one.
Chance Holmgren threw one inning in relief for Eisenhower.
Myles Thompson took the loss for Hutchinson Salthawks, but was solid in his first start. Thompson went three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three.
Zach Hogan, Thompson , and Kinser Newquist each collected one hit to lead Hutch in hitting.
Eisenhower racked up ten hits. Adams, Cory Gleason, Owen Rush, and Stevens each collected multiple hits for Eisenhower.
Adams went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Eisenhower in hitting.
