
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 14-ranked HutchCC men's basketball team bounced back from its loss earlier this week in a big way, defeating Garden City, 85-64 on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons built a 17-point halftime lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 30 points in the second half.
Hutchinson (15-3, 10-2 KJCCC) shot 47 percent (31-of-65) for the game and knocked down nine 3-pointers in the win.
Kam Thomas led the Blue Dragons with 22 points to match his jersey number, knocking down four three-point shots on six attempts, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Kernan Bundy (15 points), Dallas Whitney (14 points) and Kobe Smith (10 points) all added double-figure scoring off the bench.
The Blue Dragons finished plus-17 on the glass, outrebounding the Broncbusters, 47-30, 14 of which were on the offensive end.
Braxton Jones led the Broncbusters with 23 points, while Thomas Tut added 13.
Garden City (11-7, 7-5) shot 35 percent from the floor (21-of-59) and 16-of-23 from the foul line for 69 percent.
Hutchinson will open the second half of the Jayhawk Conference on Wednesday when the Blue Dragons host Dodge City (7-11, 5-7) for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff in the Sports Arena.
