HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After trailing early in three straight games to start the season, No. 20 Hutchinson never trailed Washburn's JV Tuesday night in the Sports Arena.
Hutchinson used the first eight minutes to build a 12-point lead.
The Dragons didn't gain much more ground in the second quarter as both teams suffered a 2:45 drought just before the half.
At the break, Hutchinson led 37-24.
The Dragons scored the first seven points of the third quarter before going up 26 with 1:52 left before the final frame.
The Ichabods outscored the Dragons 20-14 in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to 12 with 1:31 remaining.

Four Dragons scored in double figures, led by Tor'e Alford's 18.
Mele Kailahi (17), Kalyn Ervin (11) and Kali Howard (10) scored in double digits also.
Kailahi turned in a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Mya Williams was held to just six points on 2 of 5 shooting.
Hutchinson outrebounded Washburn 39-21.
Hutchinson had 17 assists, but 20 turnovers.
Maddy Hutley led three Ichabods in double-digit scoring with 11.
The Dragons will be in Great Bend this Friday and Saturday for the Barton Classic. Both games tip at 1 p.m. Hutchinson will play Labette and Howard College.
