With NFL free agency looming, it's time for releasing, restructuring, and trying to keep the best.

The Kansas City Chiefs are about $5 million over the salary cap approaching free agency, forcing them to make some crucial decisions even before they chase reinforcements, according to a report from the Associated Press.

On Thursday, the team reported that it had released tackles Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz.

Tom Brady isn’t the only QB providing cap relief to his team; Patrick Mahomes is expected to do the same. Chiefs are expected to convert Mahomes’ $21.7 million roster bonus to a signing bonus in the coming days, which would save KC $17 million against the cap, per league sources.12:58 PM Ā· Mar 12, 2021Ā·Twitter for iPhone

If they accomplish creating enough cap room, the Chiefs will attempt to fortify an offensive line dominated by the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl along with adding depth at wide receiver and in the secondary, the Associated Press reported.
