K-State WBB hosts Texas in Wednesday night tilt

 MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State will play its final home game in the month of February on Wednesday night, as the Wildcats host (11/14) Texas at 6:30 p.m.
K-State's nine-win improvement from the 2020-21 season is the largest win improvement in the Jeff Mittie era and the third-largest win increase from one season to the next in program history.
The Wildcats have been led this season by junior Ayoka Lee and freshman Serena Sundell. Lee, a 2022 All-America and National Player of the Year candidate, is third in the nation for total points scored (612) and is fifth in the nation in scoring average (23.5 ppg). She leads the nation in field goals made (252) and is third in blocked shots (81) and fourth for blocks per game (3.12). She leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.569).
Sundell, a candidate for Big 12 Freshman of the Year, is second on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg). She is second in the Big 12 in total assists (145) and assists per game (5.6). She is the only freshman in the nation with 140 or more assists and 35 or more 3-point field goals made.

1. Lee First Player to Reach 600, 250, 80
• Ayoka Lee is the first player in program history to register a season stat line that includes 600 or more points, 250 or more rebounds and 80 or more blocked shots.
2. Sundell On the Dishes
• Serena Sundell needs five assists to become the third K-State freshman in program history and the first since Shalee Lehning in 2005-06 to surpass 150 or more assists in their freshman season.
3. Rejection
• K-State has tallied 144 blocks (5.5 bpg) this season and lead the Big 12 and rank eighth in the nation for total blocks. K-State's 144 blocks are the sixth-most in the Jeff Mittie era.
4. High Efficiency Dishes
• The Wildcats have 461 assists (17.7 apg) and an assisted shot rate of 70.6 percent this season. According to HerHoopStats.com, K-State ranks second in the nation in assisted shot rate and are the highest ranked Power 5 member in the category.

• K-State held Oklahoma State to 20.0 percent shooting (11-of-55) from the field, including just six points in the first half to capture the win.

• This season K-State owns an 14-1 (.933) mark at home. The 14 home wins are the most since the 2016-17 season (14-4). The winning percentage of .933 is the highest since the 2003-04 season (1.000; 13-0).
• This season marks the 31st time in 54 seasons that the Wildcats reached double figures in home victories. It marks the 23rd season K-State has won 10 or more games in Bramlage.
• In his career in games played in his home venue, head coach Jeff Mittie is 369-105 (.778) including an 95-40 (.704) record at K-State.

K-State Holds Foes to Single-Digits
• Entering the seventh season of the quarter system in women's college basketball, K-State's defense has limited its opponents point production for 10 minute durations.
• Kansas State is 67-22 (.753) when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter in a game.
• This season, K-State has held opponents to 19 single-digit quarters including a five-quarter stretch spanning the final three quarters of the Nov. 12 game against UT Martin and the first two quarters of the Nov. 14 game against Western Kentucky.
• Against Oklahoma State on Feb. 20, K-State limited the Cowgirls to six points in the first half including a school record for fewest points in a second quarter with two. K-State held Oklahoma State without a made field goal for the entire second quarter (0-of-12).
• Against UT Martin, K-State held the Skyhawks to three straight single-digit scoring quarters including a school record low for a third quarter of four points. 
• The Wildcats held Central Arkansas to three points in the first quarter on November 9 to begin the season.

K-State Attacking the Paint
• The Wildcats have found buckets in the paint this season and are converting at a high rate.
• This season, K-State has scored 880 points in the paint (33.8 ppg) which represents 49.8 percent of their overall point total. The Wildcats have recorded 40 or more points in the paint in nine games. The Wildcats have held the edge in the lane in 17 games.
• K-State was aggressive in its efforts to score in the lane against Oklahoma. The Wildcats recorded 58 points in the paint, which marked the highest single-game total since Nov. 14, 2016, against Tulsa, when K-State poured in 60 points in the paint.
• Under Mittie, K-State has scored 900 or more points in the paint in six of the previous seven seasons including a high of 1,064 points (31.3 ppg) during the 2016-17 season.

Glenn Finds the Range 
• Freshman guard Jaelyn Glenn has been a perimeter threat for K-State this season.
• Glenn leads the team in 3-point field goals made (36) and 3-point field goal percentage (.346). She has nine games with two or more connections from 3-point range and two games with four or more.
• At West Virginia on Jan. 8, Glenn knocked down a career-high six 3-pointers on a career-high 11 attempts. 
• Glenn was the first K-State freshman since Rachel Ranke on Feb. 26, 2018, at Texas Tech to make six 3-pointers in a game. Glenn's six connections were the most by a Wildcat since Sydney Goodson made six at Oklahoma on March 7, 2021.

Charity Stripe is Kind for Sundell
• Freshman Serena Sundell has bolstered her point total this season with a consistent approach at the free throw line.
• Sundell leads the Wildcats in free throw percentage, .849, and is second on the team in free throws made and attempted, 62-of-73. In league play, Sundell ranks fourth in the Big 12 with a free throw percentage of .870 (40-of-46).
• Sundell's free throw percentage this season of .849 ranks ninth in program history for a single-season. It is the highest free throw percentage by a Wildcat since Peyton Williams tallied a .856 effort in the 2017-18 season.
• Sundell tallied a career-best 12 consecutive free throws made over a four-game stretch from Jan. 15 to Jan. 29.
• Against Texas Tech on Feb. 5, Sundell made a career-high nine free throws on a career-best 10 attempts. She has five games with five or more made free throws.

Lee a Double-Double Machine
• Ayoka Lee continues to be a double-double machine in her  K-State career.
• Lee has pocketed 16 double-doubles in the 2021-22 season, which ranks third in school history for double-doubles in a season. Earlier this season, Lee tied her own school record for consecutive double-doubles (six). She is 10th in the nation and is second in the Big 12 this season for double-doubles.
• Lee is the second player in program history with three or more seasons with 10 or more double-doubles (Kendra Wecker, 2001-05; 4).
• Of the 16 double-doubles this season, six efforts have reached 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds.
• At South Dakota State on Dec. 11, Lee tallied 38 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. This was her 12th career game with a double-double and five or more blocks, improving on her own school record.
• According to HerHoopStats.com, Lee is the third player since 2009-10 to register a final stat line of at least 38 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks (Elena Delle Donne, 2012; Brittney Griner, 2013).
• Lee's career double-double total stands at 45, which ranks second in school history for career double-doubles. She ranks eighth in the nation among active NCAA Division I women's basketball players. 
• She is the fastest player in program history to 45 career double-doubles. Lee has nine career double-doubles with 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds, which stands as the most such games in program history.
• Lee is averaging 0.56 double-doubles per game in her career, which is the highest rate in school history. Among active NCAA Division I Power 5 Conference players, Lee ranks first in career double-doubles per game.
• In her redshirt freshman season of 2019-20, the center from Byron, Minnesota, set the school record for double-doubles in a season with 19 and ranked tied for 8th in Big 12 history for double-doubles in a single season.
• Lee achieved a rare single-game milestone, as she became the first player in program history with 20 or more points and 20 or more rebounds in the same game, achieving the feat against Oklahoma on January 25, 2020 (23 points, 20 rebounds).
