KANSAS CITY, Mo.&nbsp;— Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other starters will sit out the regular season finale on Sunday at the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Andy Reid confirmed on Wednesday.

Backup Blaine Gabbert will get the start at quarterback in place of Mahomes for the 3:25 p.m. kickoff on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

The Chiefs are taking precautions now that the team has locked up the AFC West title and a spot in the playoffs.&nbsp;
