🏀 MBB: No. 17 HutchCC dominates second half to down Seward

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 17 Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team pulled away from the Seward County Saints in the second half en route to a 76-42 win at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons improve their record to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC). 

Hutchinson led Seward County, 30-20 at halftime after the Saints made a run late in the half to cut the Blue Dragon deficit down.

The Blue Dragons dominated the second half, outscoring the Saints, 46-22.

HutchCC shot 57 percent from the floor, while holding the Saints to 28 percent. The Blue Dragons finished plus-23 on the glass, outrebounding Seward, 44-21.

Valentino Simon led the Blue Dragons with 20 points and six rebounds, while Kernan Bundy added 15 points off the bench. Dallas Whitney also contributed off the bench with 12 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Amir Whitlock led the Saints with 13 points, while Mathias M'Madi added nine.

Hutchinson will travel to Coffeyville to play the Red Ravens on Saturday afternoon at Nellis Hall with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on the flagship station for the Blue Dragons, KHUT-FM (102.9), as well as KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5).
