HutchCC Quarterback Club Hall of Fame class to be inducted Saturday

At halftime of Saturday's Hutchinson-Butler men's basketball game, the Blue Dragon Quarterback Club Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be enshrined.

The Hall of Fame welcomes three new members this year in Jamie Patrick (women's basketball), Kadeem Allen (men's basketball) and Kyle Simonds (baseball).

Unfortunately, only Patrick will be able to attend the ceremony. Allen is currently playing professionally in Italy and Simonds is the pitching coach for Sam Houston State University, which is opening the 2024 season this weekend against Oklahoma State.

KADEEM ALLEN - Men's Basketball 2012-2014Allen was a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NABC All-American and two-time Jayhawk Conference Player of the Year. In 2014, Allen was named the NJCAA and NABC National Player of the Year.

Allen ranked third on the Blue Dragon career scoring list with 1,425 points; behind Roy "Pooh" Hairston (1,687) and Tyrone Jones (1,461). He was the 13th member of the Blue Dragon 1,000-point club.

Allen also ranked fifth first in career free throws (476), career free-throw attempts (592), second in career assists (324), second in career steals (157), tied for third in career scoring average (21.6 points per game) and fifth in career made field goals (271).

Allen led the 2013 Blue Dragons to the program's first Region VI Tournament championship since 1997 and led an injury-ravaged 2014 Hutchinson team to the Region VI Tournament championship game.As a freshman, Allen's Blue Dragon rankings are sixth in scoring (571), fifth in scoring average (17.3 points per game), 11th in made field goals (190), second in made free throws (160), eighth in assists (130) and second in steals (81).

After Hutchinson, Allen played at the University of Arizona. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA Draft. He also played for the New York Knicks as well as internationally in his pro career.

JAMIE PATRICK - Women's Basketball 2013-2014Patrick concluded her Blue Dragon career as the program's all-time and single-season scoring leader (now No. 3 on the scoring list). Patrick and her 2014 sophomore teammates finished their careers with a 71-3 record and finished of third place and national runner-up in two trips to the NJCAA Tournament.

She was a third-team NJCAA All-American in 2014 as well as a Jayhawk Conference first-team All-Conference player. She was a second-team all-Jayhawk Conference player as a freshman in 2013.

A 5-10 guard from Hutchinson Central Christian, Patrick as the 2013-14 Lady Dragons' leading scorer averaging 17.4 points per game (seventh best in team history for a single season). Patrick totaled a record 626 points as a sophomore, shooting 52.7 percent from the field overall, 38.2 percent from 3-point range and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line. Patrick also averaged 5.8 rebounds and had 84 assists, 67 steals and 16 blocked shots.

Named to the NJCAA Tournament All-Tournament team, the two-time all-Jayhawk West performer was named the conference's Player of the Week twice. Patrick earned one NJCAA National player of the week honor in 2014.

Her 1,098 career points surpassed Heather Robben's career record total this season. Patrick also ranked second in made field goals (397), field-goal attempts (763), overall field-goal percentage (52.0 percent), sixth in career 3-pointers (132), third in career 3-point attempts (332), fourth in 3-point percentage (39.8 percent) and fifth in career free throws (79.3 percent). Patrick finished with 404 rebounds, 170 assists, 119 steals and 41 blocked shots.

Patrick went onto play at Colorado State and later was a Blue Dragon assistant women's basketball coach.

KYLE SIMONDS - Baseball 2013-2014Simonds was a two-year starting pitcher for the Blue Dragons in 2013 and 2014. His sophomore season in 2014 was one of the best seasons in program history.

Simonds was named the 2014 NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year as well as the Jayhawk West Pitcher of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore right-handed starting pitcher from Grand Island, Nebraska, was also first-team All-Jayhawk West and All-Region VI honors being named the Region VI Gold Glove winner as a pitcher.

Simonds finished the 2014 season as the national leader in pitching wins posting a 13-0 record in 13 starts. He becomes 11th Blue Dragon starting pitcher to post an undefeated season (record of 5-0 or better). He set a team season record for wins and best start to a season by a starting pitcher.

The Blue Dragon ace finished with a season earned-run average of 2.20. He set team records for strikeouts in a season with 103 (sixth in the NJCAA) and tied team season records for complete games (9) and shutouts (3). Simonds was second in the nation in complete games and fourth in the nation in shutouts.

In a team season-record 94 innings pitched, Simonds allowed just 75 hits, 32 runs, 23 earned runs and walked just 12. Opponents hit just .210 against Simonds in 2014.

Simonds had six games of 10 or more strikeout, including a career-best 13 against Allen in Game 1 of the Region VI Tournament opening-round series at Hobart-Detter Field.

The future Texas A&M pitcher finished his Blue Dragon career with a 16-4 record and a 3.02 earned-run average. He is tied for fourth with Craig Reed (1999-2000) and Lewick (2009-10) for fourth on the career wins list. His ERA is 13th best in team history.

He threw 128 career innings (ranks seventh on HutchCC's career list). His 123 career strikeouts rank sixth best in Hutchinson history. His 10 complete games rank No. 5 on the career list and his three shutouts tie for fourth best in a career.

After a standout two-year career at Texas A&M, which included a no-hitter against Vanderbilt, Simonds was a 14th-round draft pick of the Washington Nationals in 2016.
