HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs, winners of 10 straight games and a 22-4 season record start an important four game series with the league leading Cheney Diamond Dawgs at Hobart-Detter field in Carey Park tonight.

Hutchinson just might be playing their best baseball of the season pounding out a team record 18 hits on July 11th vs the Great Bend Bat Cats and finishing the week Saturday night with a 16-1 run rule over Mulvane with a 10 run first inning.

Cheney has been red hot all season, but just split with Newton in a four game series by having to rally late in game one by scoring 8 runs in the final 3 innings to win 8-7, then dropped the next two games to the rebels before winning a 12 inning affair on Saturday night 11-8 over the rebels.

Cheney holds a 2 game lead in the Sunflower Collegiate League over Hutchinson going into this week's match up.

Monday and Thursday nights games in Hutchinson can be viewed on video stream on hutchpost.com both with 7 pm starts.

Here is a listing of the final two weeks of the Monarchs season with the NBC World Series starting in August. The 12-team tournament will be held Aug. 3-10 at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium, with additional games also going for four days at Hutchinson’s Hobart-Detter Field.
