🏀 MBB: No. 19 Blue Dragons hit century mark in rout of Dodge City

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 19-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team had no problems whatsoever with Dodge City, cruising past the Conquistadors 107-72 on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

The win marked the regular season sweep of Dodge City (7-12, 5-8 KJCCC) after the Blue Dragons won in southwest Kansas in mid-November.

Hutchinson (16-3, 11-2) finished the first half strong, going on a 32-7 run over the final 9:29 to claim a 55-29 lead after 20 minutes. 

The Blue Dragons kept the pedal to the medal in the second half, scoring 52 second half points compared to the Conquistadors' 43.

Hutchinson shot 57 percent from the floor (38-of-66) including nine made three-pointers. The Blue Dragons also shot the ball well from the free-throw line, knocking down 22-of-27 attempts.

Valentino Simon led the Blue Dragons with a 22 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. J.P. Ricks finished with 18 points, 16 of which came in the first half.

Dodge City turned the ball over 25 times in the game, as the Blue Dragons scored 31 points from those.

The 107 points scored is the fifth time this season that the Blue Dragons have hit the century mark in scoring.

Hutchinson is off on Saturday with a bye before traveling to Colby next Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against the Trojans.
