For the first time since early in the 2022-23 season, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team is in the Top 5 of NJCAA Division I national rankings.

Now 16-0 and 10-0 in the Jayhawk Conference, the Blue Dragons are No. 5 this week – the poll was released on Tuesday this week because of the MLK Holiday.

This is the first time since November 14, 2022 that the Blue Dragons have resided in the Top 5. Hutchinson was No. 4 in that No. 22 ranking.

Last week, the Blue Dragons defeated Seward County 69-53 and won at Coffeyville 58-39 to tie for the sixth-best start to a season in program history.

The Blue Dragons are one of three Jayhawk Conference teams in the rankings and four to get poll consideration. Dodge City (15-2) is No. 13 and Butler (14-2) is No. 14. Barton, the Blue Dragons' opponent on Wednesday at the Sports Arena, is receiving votes.

Northwest Florida State Collin and Gulf Coast State remained the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 teams in the nation. McLennan College is ranked No. 4.

Next week's poll release returns to its regular Monday release.
