HUTCHINSON, Kan. —ESSDACK will host a free learning opportunity Tuesday, December 6th, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at ESSDACK.

Author Matthew R. Kay, will join ESSDACK to discuss his book, Not Light But Fire: How to Lead Meaningful Race Conversations in the Classroom.

With years of classroom experience, Kay knows what works and what doesn’t. How can teachers facilitate productive dialogues around race and other difficult topics in our classrooms? What can teachers do to handle complex topics while keeping our students on task and engaged? With the right blend of reflection and humility, Matthew asserts teachers can make school one of the best venues for young people to discuss complicated issues. Teachers that attend can expect to leave this event with resources, suggestions, and the confidence to support students.

This event will be hosted at the ESSDACK office, 1500 E 11th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, 67501. Please register for this free event at essdk.me/MatthewKayBookEvent.
